With all the claims and counter claims going on with FIFA at the moment should UEFA just say 'enough is enough' and leave FIFA with the look to starting a fresh, new, modern global footballing body?

If UEFA did it, I am sure other confederations would follow.

I believe this happened with the darts and boxing fraternity if I'm not mistaken.

    Your thoughts?

I've thought about that too. It may well be a good idea for UEFA to at least threaten to break away and control themselves. Not sure they would be able to make anything different happen anywhere else than Europe though. Being the first to rebel could start the ball rolling globally.

The fact that Blatter is still president at the age of 79 tells you everything you need to know about FIFA. He should have retired a long time ago to allow new blood and new ideas to breathe life into the organisation but instead the corrupt ****er remains at the top like a mafia godfather, maintaining the status quo.

I listened to Gary Lineker talking about it and he was saying that the majority of countries, especially the smaller ones, are still in Blatter's corner because they know how much money FIFA can bring to them and wouldn't want to vote against him. In the light of what's been revealed you'd think that most countries would want to distance themselves from FIFA, just like major sponsors are. Instead, those with votes keep Blatter at the top so that they can keep receiving the kick backs for their votes. Coca Cola, Bud, McDonalds and other american companies have already come out condemning what's going on. and who can blame them.

At the moment I can't stand FIFA or Blatter, and it's been like that for many years.

I'm glad you started this thread ostlan, don't expect much conversation to happen though, in my experience subjects like this don't get much attention on the Ipswich board sadly which is why I didn't start one myself <ok>

Well don corleone blatter just got re-elected, surely FIFA is the most corrupt organisation on the planet, UEFA now has no choice but to sever any ties with this so called organisation. Time for UEFA to go it alone, I am sure that the likes of Brazil and Argentina will at some stage see the light and realise that being linked with UEFA is far more advantageous than being linked with the footballing equivalent of the Mafia.!

    Unreal Hoppers.
First, the fact that the vote even went ahead and then of course that he is still the Don. Is it a four year tenure? The man will be deep into his eighties before he's gone, that can't be right. I'm not surprised in the slightest either. You would think that irreparable damage had been done but this will all get glossed over and everything will be back to normal before you know it. Absolute disgrace.

UEFA should kick FIFA to the curb and run the Euro championship only. South and Central American football is corrupt as hell though so don't expect much change from those countries.

I hope UEFA make a stand and pull out the next world cup, Blatter has got every football fan by the short and curlies, wouldn't surprise me if he bought votes in this election by offering places at the top table at FIFA for the smaller confeds.

UEFA have now kinda backed themselves into a corner, anything less than a withdrawal of a membership of FIFA will be seen as a backtrack, I know that UEFA is not white as white in all of this but anything less than a go it alone stance could be seen as a U turn. TBH I can't think of any reason as to why you would be wanted to be associated with FIFA at this time.!

Financial gain is one of the reasons to stay affiliated with FIFA, something I hope will not influence UEFA the same way as smaller organisations.

I think that as soon as one major sponsor has the balls to pull the plug on FIFA others will follow, the financial benefits will then very quickly disappear.!

Listening on the radio the other day, if a major sponsor pulls out there is another waiting to fill the gap.

The man is charge when asked how to make women's football more popular replied " get them to wear shorter sorts"

    This man is Teflon covered.

    I agree Pershore.
The American companies are naturally distancing themselves from the scandal but as you say, should Coke, Adidas etc rip up their contracts with FIFA there will be plenty more companies to fill the void. Middle Eastern companies, airlines, online betting etc.

The fact that Blatter even stood for re election amid this fiasco which happened on his watch tells you everything you need to know about this crook and his band of corrupt hangers on who keep him in power.
