Who knows eh...Whoever comes I really hope they have a far more attacking outlook than Poyet showed..Avcocaat had the same players, but got vastly improved results by creating more attacking options..

Any potential top manager, we approach, will call Dick before considering the job.

I'd hope he'd highly recommend the club to anyone and advise them if they're appointed.

I hope that having Advocaat here will raise our profile enough to encourage the right man to take the club forward.

Hmm. Shame that. Not only for SAFC but also for the premier league. Great manager, wanted to see more of him.

I have a feeling you may be right. I'd take him in a shot. Presume Overmars would stay to help Bergkamp as well so that wouldn't be a problem.

If we were interested in Clement, and Dick wasn't committing to take the job, why have we let Clement go to Derby earlier today, then announced this? Are Derby a more attractive choice than us, were we not that bothered about Clement, or have we shafted ourselves again by focusing on just one option that doesn't work out? We spent all summer chasing Borini and missed other options of strikers. Why do we do this to ourselves?

    I'm gutted that Dicks gone.
He not only did what was asked of him but also opened up everyone's eyes
to what can be achieved if you have a good experienced manager.
Hope Ellis has got the message, no more inexperienced, hot headed foreign nut jobs please.

Sorry to see the general leave, but what a way to bow out.
Dick, I I salute you and thank you for turning the team around in that short space of time.
Who next? Not really bothered so long as it's a manager who commands respect and doesn't let the poison in the team surface again.

Hadn't realised Di Matteo resigned as Schalke manager yesterday. A Congerton 'contact'. Coincidence?

We clearly weren't interested in Clement mate. He's never managed before. It was always a bit far fetched.

Nationality doesn't really come into it unless you're dying to be bored to tears by Allardyce. There's not a lot of English talent around.

Was all that innuendo intentional or do I just have a dirty mind? <laugh>

Northern Echo saying we might hijack Clements move to Derby. Sheer speculation I think but it would be brave.
I'm struggling here but my order of preference would be:
    1. Moyes
    2. Bilic
    3. Clement
    5. Di Matteo
    4. McClaren
    736. Allardyce

Are they the only realistic suggestions?

I like De Boer as a shout and don't think he's too far out of our grasp, though it would be pretty ambitious.

I'm afraid that list does not interest me in the slightest but I presume we'll go for one of them :(

    Really?!
    Not interested in Moyes?!
Of all things you could say against Bilic you can't say it would be boring! Potentially bonkers though.

Clement would also be a very interesting experiment but a huge gamble.

Allardyce is the boring option I'd hope Short avoids. **** stability, I don't want that man representing us (or Hughes, not that he'd come)

Right at the end. Says he'd be open to a country.

Want to stop at clubs but for a country I'll still be open for that.

Time now for Congerton to prove his worth. He was with Hamburg before coming here so something from the continent could be on the cards. Football played in the German/Dutch style obviously suits the current players so a quick slip in would do.
