Has more than enough quality for the Championship - mistake to let him go if that's what we do - as he will no doubt shine for whichever championship club takes him on
I'm pretty much certain that someone in the PL will take Chester. So would anyone else be interested in a Maguire and Dawson CB partnership for next season. An experienced Pro with a younger CB.
This^^^ 10000000% why mcshane is loved on here is unbelievable. Alex gives you the same passion and commitment as mcshane and is better but because he's the managers son gets slated, meanwhile livermore and Thudd got away with **** performances for ages before people on here turned on them
Junior is not better than McShane. He really isn't. And also the only person on here who has consistently slated Junior is Charon.
Ha he really really is better and more than Charon slate him, they must do as I don't read chrons posts anymore
I think Bruce is better than Macca. In the FA cup final, we looked comfortable with Bruce playing sweeper and conceded the equaliser when he was subbed off.
It's his stand out performance for me - only reason for mentioning. It's just my personal opinion. Your opinion is that Macca is better. I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you otherwise. I'll respect your opinion.
There's no way Alex Bruce is a better player than McShane. Bruce gives it all, throws himself into tackles and is willing to put his body on the line, but his distribution is piss poor, every other pass is back to the goalkeeper for a 50/50 punt down field. McShane can actually pass a ball, if he couldn't they'd be about the same. He's had good games for us, don't get me wrong, but he wasn't Premier League quality and I'd much rather have Maguire in there ahead of him. We as a City appreciate the hard working players over the 'prima donnas', those folk who roll up their sleeves and get stuck in to the muck. We love a hard worker, perhaps it's synonymous with our 'working class' image. The problem with that is that a lot of fans would much rather have a player that tries hard over a player that's actually a capable footballer. When people were calling for Huddlestone to be dropped for Meyler (and not Quinn), I couldn't believe it. "Well at least Meyler puts the effort in". It's like a top architect designing a **** building, being suspended and the company getting the janitor to come in and take his place, citing "well, he can't draw for **** but he tries really hard".
McShane's decision-making and timing have improved massively in the past three years or so. Bruce Jnr is better than the 2011 Macca, but he's definitely not as good as the 2015 Macca.
I think they are both equally good, they both have strengths and weaknesses. McShane used to get dogs abuse on this very forum, it's funny how he has become a cult hero, deservedly so too. There's one thing that can be applied to both of them - when on the pitch they both give 100% all the time. For me as a fan, that is what I respect about them. They both comfortably held their own in the PL. Which is why it is a travesty if we start losing players like these. Replacing them with equivalent standard players is expensive and very risky, as you may run the risk of signing more **** like Hernandez. The rudderless ship continues and we are, if the rumours are correct about players to be released more likely to do a Wigan than a Norwich. I dread to think what kind of team will take to the pitch come the start of the season. You can't do that in the Championship - it's relentless.
Steve Bruce resurrected Mcshanes career at City when Barmby and Pearson treat him like a leper. Just saying like
