Looks like the Yanks have finally stepped up and arrested some of the corrupt assholes that work for FIFA this morning, but is this enough to get rid of Blatter and destroy FIFA for good?
I doubt it, it'll probably undermine Prince Ali, as all the corrupt people (most of FIFA) will vote or encourage others to vote for Blatter now to protect themselves. It's ridiculous how blatantly corrupt and unethical FIFA/Blatter is, and yet he wins every time because of it.

So Blatter denies knowledge of a corrupt scheme that has been running for at least 2 decades (as I understand it). 2 options: He knew nothing about it, in which case he is a useless president and really does have no clue what he's doing. Or he knew about it and just didn't care. Either way I don't see how he can continue being president of FIFA. Unfortunately, he'll still win Friday's election because he panders to the tiny footballing nations that get the same representation as everyone else.
UEFA calling for elections to be post-poned and to boycott FIFA but it's a little hard to believe that organisations like UEFA didn't know this was happening. I know they're completely separate organisations but these people must all inhabit the same circles. Makes you wonder if anybody at the top of football is truly clean of any corruption or wrongdoing.
I get the feeling that the only way to exist in the upper echelons of football is to be corrupt, which is why UEFA aren't pushing too hard, because they've got skeletons they'd wish to keep in their closets, and why the England World Cup bid were accused of skulduggery, along with every bidding party bar Holland/Belgium (I think it was those two) - the bid that happened to get nowhere near winning it. There's no way that the election will be postponed as Blatter, and those supporting him know that his only chance is to quickly push through an election before everything falls apart, then they can put their full might behind fighting the criminal cases with disinformation, bribes, hidden information, scapegoats and counter lawsuits.
I'm deeply cynical about all this and think the dodgy old barsteward will, again, walk away clean for another term. They've already said that in the 162 odd document on the case that his name doesn't appear once. ...unless they're being sneaky and mean it appears lots. Hmm.
I can't see Blatter being charged with anything, even though he's blatantly a corrupt, unethical puppet master whose at the centre of all this. The worst that can happen to him is he loses the election and much needed reforms take place which marginalise him, forcing him to retire. But tbh, I don't see it - I think everyone's corrupt in FIFA and so everyone will protect everyone else to protect themselves, it's a house of cards built on dirty money!

Yeah, I remember that, it was a pretty specific attack, but one of the reasons I don't like tweeting, as Tweets can be seen by anyone, anytime for ever, and just because you may mean something harmless to your own group, other people can take it far differently. It's a good reminder though, as I do sometimes forget that what's posted online is generally irretrievable
