I'm trying to think exactly when it was, but didn't Ronaldo and Benitez have a massive falling out over something a few years ago. I wonder if the FW's arrival will have any effect on CR's thinking about staying/leaving the club.

I think Benitez being appointed manager will see a lot of players wanting out. He's hugely unpopular in Spain. Very odd move by Real.

On the plus side, he makes a wonderful paella, which will go down a treat in Madrid.

It might help us keep De Gea.

DDG: So Juan, what is Benitez like?

I wish that were true. The only problem is Rafa will fail and leave before the season is finished. DDG will see a longer future at Real and simply wait for the next man.

Btw Rafa will fail at Madrid. Bar a decent Copa Del Rey run he will be sh1t.

Benitez and Ronaldo will not get on. Both have massive egos. That's one thing Ancelotti was very good at, managing his prima donna players.

He won't win his power struggle there. He didn't at Chelsea, and Jose didn't at Real.

It will be tough for him unless he gets Ramos Casillas and Ronnie on his side: maybe he won't take them on

Seems a very odd appointment. Benitez is basically a lesser talented version of Mourinho. He wins games by parking the bus, and nicking the odd goal. That style of play will not go down well in Madrid!

He will no doubt like Mourinho upset the players in Madrid with his dictatorship like style of management. Ancelotti went down well with them, because he's good at managing big name players, he knows when to put his arm around them rather than laying down the law to them.

Benitez has had some success at smaller clubs because lesser talented players will accept and buy into his strict methods of managing. But the egos in Madrids dressing room will fight back if he tries to implant his ways onto them.

It's ashame Ancelotti has become available now, as id of liked him to come to us last year

Not really the same though is it?

Fabregas had the choice whether to go to Chelsea or not. Ronaldo is having fat useless waiter foisted on him.

I would have loved him to come to us last year. Amazing that there was fck all chance of him leaving back then and 12 months later he's available. Top manager.
