People forget how good Schmiekel was for United. He saved their bacon on more than several occasions. Without him, Keane would have been decking players (including his own) all over the park, and Fergie's head would have blown up like that bloke's in the 80s' film, Scanners.
Good for you. Still the most boring team to win the league though. I might have got the goal tally wrong but Pelligrini was right. His team and those of Arsenal before have won the league with much more flair and style. Nobody other than chavs want to see anti-football boring Chavbus winning in such a dour manner.
Arsenal 97/8 more boring? Two holding midfielders parking the bus and only 68 goals? Thank god United did the treble the following season and Arsenal did not win the league scoring 59 goals
Come on though. I know you chavs are pleased to have won the title. But surely even you must cringe at the 19th century football at times ?
Hardly We've won the same amount of trophies in the last two seasons as you chavs, but we've done it without bending over and taking it from behind by the Russian Mafia and without our players and fans being racist ****s. I know who the failures are here and it isn't us Gooners. Pelligrini should have added, classless and racist to that lack of flair and style
Yeah, Arsenal have nothing to do with the Russian mafia at all. One of their owners isn't a good mate of Abramovich and Putin and he was never convicted for fraud. Nope. Didn't happen.
We like to keep him in the shadows, being an unsavoury character. But at least we haven't relied on his personal wealth to buy our trophies. We earned those, unlike the gift that Roman gave to the chavs.
Just think, Roman was a whisker away from buying Spurs. I wonder if the chavs would have viewed their trophy haul as being well earned ?
Having a rich, unprincipled owner would appear to be a dodgy way to gain success and taint your history, wouldn't it? Glad that's never been the case at Arsenal.
You know there's no argument to be had when people start digging up Henry Norris from over 100 years ago
Or Usmanov from... er, now. You've got to where you currently are on the back of dodgy owners. Criticising Chelsea for the same thing seems rather hypocritical.
Your comment is complete bollocks of course. Usmanov is a shareholder but has nothing to do with the running of the club. In fact he was very public about wanting to plough his personal wealth into the team, like Roman did, but Arsenal told him where to go and that they had a different approach where we spend what we earn. As for Norris, it's so long ago and the details are debatable about his 'influence'. Spurs fans are only bitter about him because Arsenal were picked to play in the old London top league ahead of Spurs, when at the time Spurs didn't even play in London.
