Yarrow to continue the purple patch for Stoute with maiden 3yos: at Nottingham.. The Buddah's birthday here so day off (relatively new holiday here as the Chinese inserted it when taking HK back as the locals lost the Queen's Birthday (we've never got that!))..
Quite sweet on the chances of 3.50 Leicester Rio Ronaldo 9/2. A half brother to a number of very decent horses including Group 1 winner G Force, US Group 3 winner Louvain, Listed winner Lajool and Group 3 placed Desert Poppy, Rio Ronaldo ran out a very impressive winner on his latest start when just pushed out hands and heels to score by 1.25L and I think a 6lb rise for that victory is very lenient. Although this race has a much deeper look to it, I think Mike Murphy's 3 year old is still well ahead of the handicapper off a mark of 83 and I think it's going to take an extremely well handicapped horse to beat him.
Stonefield Flyer 10/1 Carlisle 2:35 Keith Dalgleishs charge is hard to catch right on turf. His majority of wins have come on the AW surfaces but he's dropped down to a mark he should be more than capable of winning off now and there appears to be nibbles around for him early tonite so I'm expecting a better show for him tomorrow.
Windsor 2:20 - Just Us Two 100/30. He had a very progressive season last year, looked better with every run. There's also been quite a few winners came out of the maiden race he won at Nottingham last year. The bit of form I like though is his 2nd to the useful Waady, he was only beaten 1 length by Waady who has since went on to win a few decent races and was 4th behind Adaay at Newbury on Lockinge day. If he keeps showing the same progress as last year then he should be taking this race.
Maybe I Wont @ 20/1 5:45 Cartmel Trained locally by James Moffatt, Maybe I Wont is 6lbs lower than when 2nd in this very race last year, he led at this distance when finishing 4th two starts ago and also has a visor on for the 1st time over jumps. Good Luck
Disappointing fare everywhere for a Bank Holiday Monday but c'est la vie. I've been scrawling the Ballinrobe card and I think I've found a very decent chance in the first. Ballinrobe 6.00 MR BOSS MAN 4/1 Two starts ago this lad ran 2nd in a 26 runner charity race at the Punchestown Festival from which the horse who won (by a 1/2l) won his next start by 17l. Last time out Mr Boss Man made his first start over hurdles over 3miles which seemed to stretch him plenty enough but he ran OK finishing 3rd beat 6l by an improving Jessie Harrington animal Duckweed. Being an ex flat horse I'd be confident a drop back tomorrow night to just over 2m should suit much better and that the last start was simply to get some hurdling practice in. The favourite of Elliot's looks to be one to avoided as this is now his 8th attempt to break his maiden tag! For an average looking maiden hurdle on a Monday night, I'm as confident as I can be that Mr Boss Man can decisively take this enroute to bigger and better things. Good luck
Not the result that Mayor Quimby wanted on the last day of the season that's for sure. Personally I think he has done a good job of moulding Liverpool into an incisive, possession side. However his midfield general (Gerrard) declined massively this season, he sold the worlds 3rd best player, and had his other top scorer out for most of the season. Not getting 5th may turn out a blessing in disguise for them but the big question mark has to be his transfer policy and contractual issues. Not sure Klopp would necessarily turn them into Premier winners.
Haha Mayor Quimby, first time I've heard that one actually..ya I think he's done as much as he could apart from those issues with Suarez. Not sure if there was pressure from above to get rid of him after taking a chunk out of Chiellini but replacing him with Rickie Lambert and Super Mario was a definite step back. I don't think Klopp would turn them into league winners, not with City and Chelsea's spending prowess. He will however build a solid team with good team spirit and try to build it using as much local resources as possible. Although with the next Sterling's of the world coming through demanding 100k contracts before they've achieved anything, good luck to him with that.
Rodgers simply HAS to go. Him and his bullshit post match rhetoric of progression, development, character etc have done my head in this season. I've been for him as long as I can muster but its came to the end now. He simply cannot get a team to defend. The bread and butter fundamentals of a winning team just have never been there in his entire tenure. Klopp would be nice but I think we may have to settle for madman Rafa. Heck I'd take anyone tbh, even Big Sam
Careful what you wish for Beefy! Big Sam is jetting off on Holiday tomorrow and is letting his agent thrash out talks with Sullivan and Gould..that's how much he want's to stay, he's not even going to a meeting about his own future. There may possibly be an amicable split there.
off to Windsor tomorrow and sadly fancy a lot of shorties; Premier Currency No Delusion Fast Dancer Just Us Two Rembrandt Van Rijn Special Miss Equity Risk
Hinton Indiana, Cartmel 4.40 @ 9/2. The Skelton's only entry tomorrow, yard in fine form and a long way to go just for a day out.
Have a good one at Windsor, Stick, am very envious! Used to love a day (or evening) at the races there by the old Thames. Was at school not far from there for 6-years (NOT Eton )
AUTHINGER 40-1 Cartmel 4:10 has been given a real chance by the handicapper and is attracting a bit of support
Draw in the Rome derby tonight, was 5/2 before the weekend and now 13/8 - a draw confirms champions league football for both Roma & Lazio
A boring draw and more shame for Italian football and nobody will bat an eye. Only in Italy will you ever see the draw odds at odds on!
