There is a clause but the whole argument is over what exactly the clause means. Swansea are claiming that a bid in excess of £1m allows a club to talk to Taylor but doesn't force them to accept it. Newcastle and Neil Taylor both dispute this as they believe it allows him to leave the club. This dispute is currently being settled by lawyers.

Has anyone here seen Neil Taylor play? The only time I saw him he got sent off in the first minute of the first game of the playoffs!!!

Well it indicates that the swap deal isnt on the table as it stands, Ashley is trying to get Taylor for £1m and hoping to sells Routledge for about £2.5m, reported thats what Brum, Forest and Leicester have bid.

Can't see it taking very long. If it's ruled the way NUFC and N. Taylor seem to view it then the transfer should be pretty quick after that. Although... Swansea won't be too happy about it! Still haven't really seen the guy play. Hope he's worth all the hassle, even as LB cover.

Yeah, the supposed deal for Routledge was apparently separate from the Taylor saga. But from all the usual rumour mills it's Leicester that are closest to signing him. Leicester are already looking pretty exciting for next season so I'd say it would be a good move for Routledge too
