He's scored more goals than Suarez and Lewandowski this season! He's a natural goalscorer, something which we've lacked this season.

I must admit that I'm not on the edge of my seat at the prospect of him being here, but I think we can make him better than he is. To me he looks a bit flabby in both mind and body. I think we could sharpen him him immensely. Plus he's only 25. Graziano is 29.

But 17 goals from a flabby ain't that bad. :)

I think Pelle has become a natural goalscorer in recent years. If you add half the goals that hit the post and bounced back out to be two inches inward so that they deflected into the goal he'd be on 21.

OK, he didn't, but 50 goals in 57 matches in the Dutch elite league means he has something.

He's not in the sense I'm referring to. Pelle's more of a target man. Austin's a poacher - he's deadly inside the penalty area - something which can't be said of Pelle. Austin, Rodriguez and Mane could be an awesome front 3.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean now. I think Sadio could be a poacher if he felt like it. The short type. Tbh, I think that lad could be anything he wanted to be, besides being a 6ft CB or goalkeeper that is. :)

Austin's goals to games ratio throughout his entire career is incredible. And now he can do it in the Premier League. 17 goals for a crap QPR team. Amazing. How many would Pelle have scored playing for QPR this season? I'd take Austin any day of the week, 20 million no problem.

    I don't know, man.

I don't believe for one second that Austin is even remotely near the class of Lewandowski or Suarez. I mean, get real.

But Lewandowski and Suarez are not about to sign for us either.

I like Ings, and I think the problem is more in the buildup and philosophy in general rather than a finisher, but Austin is an intriguing target.

I certainly wouldn't say no to Charlie Austin.....Not sure how he would fit in though. He reminds me of Billy Sharpe as someone else said, a poacher. However there is nothing wrong with one of those in the team I guess...........

Don't remind me about Billy Sharpe...I still think he was treated shabbily. :(

I remember people thinking Rickie was a little on the 'bully' side. A pre-season with our guys would sort that.

Hit the nail there. Intriguing is a good word for this situation. There would be excitement and reservation at the same time, so intriguing works for me.

Your first sentence is contradictory TSS. You don't become a natural goal scorer; you either are one or you are not. Pelle really wants goals and you can see that in his face and his play. This gets him lots of goals, but natural goal scorer he is not.

A crap QPR team who, however, make plenty of chances

We make plenty of chances, and with a better team around him, surely Austin will improve?

No one's saying that. I just used the stat that he's scored more goals then them this season to back up my argument that Austin is a natural goalscorer.

I'm not sure why people would say no to Austin. 17 league goals in a **** qpr team is no mean feat and I think he could play the Pelle role really well, he's definitelyr more of a natural finisher than Pelle, plus he always ****ing scores past us, thats reason enough in my eyes. Ings will go to Liverpool and I'm not sure any clubs who will finish above us will be interested in Austin. With only a year on his deal we should be trying to tie this one up, players who score 15 goals+ in the PL don't exactly grow on trees and it's rare that we would be able to sign them, also homegrown.

I wouldn't mind Austin. But the question is, could we find someone better? I'm sure our scouting department is browsing through most european leagues searching for best available targets. If they opt for Austin, that says to me that he's the best available option and I'm content with that.

If rumours are to be believed, my sources indicate this will be our team for next season:

    Steklenberg

    Tripper, Fonte, Martins-Indi, Bertrand

    Clasie, Vilhena, Wanyama

    Austin, JWP, Guidetti

Well, in a sense, no one is a natural goalscorer, but I take your point. Mankind did not evolve to put balls of leather into nets..! :)

Put it this way... It is entirely possible that Pelle has been played his whole career, upto the last 3 or 4, in a way that hasn't maximised his goalscoring potential. I'll cite one of your examples from another post, Rickie Lambert, who for several years never had an impressive goalscoring record. Then suddenly he was played in the right manner for him. In fact, the two careers have definite similarities.
