Good on the lad! On another note, it says a lot that the only decent 2nd & 3rd choice keepers we have are from relegated teams.
Perhaps not the most prolific of scorers, but I really hope he gets a chance. What he offers is completely different to any player. Oh, and 3 years I took him to go from non league to England international.
Harsh! i think he is, just because he don't play for Tottenham or the top 4 doesn't mean there not good enough. Pace scares defenders and with better opportunities in front go goal i believe Vards will do well.
... not being funny mate ... and this is not said in a partisan way ... but Vardy would arguably be far more effective against some of the pub teams we now play in major tournament qualifying than some of the players that England have used ... I'm not disagreeing on the point that he is not up to the level of international players of say 10 - 15 years ago ... but if you take this season he has given complete run arounds to the likes of Rojo, Fernandez, Blind, Janmaat, Fonte, Alderwireld, Lovren and Mertersaacker ... to name but a few ... now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't some of them play in a final, semi and quarters of some prestigious footballing event last summer?
That has added a few quid to his value. Wonder if we owe Fleetwood anything if he gets a cap. Pleased for the lad.
Wow, what a story! Two years ago he was on our bench in the Championship, three he was playing in non-league! So pleased for him, rarely has a player fought so hard for his chance.
Well done to him for getting in the squad, can't see him getting a game though unless theres no pressure, like 2-0 up or something.
@kschmeichel1 Massive congratulations to @vardy7 on @england call-up! About time too. So deserved. Defenders and GK's nightmare! #lcfc #VardyForEngland
Of course you'd have the same opinion if he was playing for Hull, wouldn't you? Great news for Vardy and fully deserved. Interesting that all three teams that went up last season have all got players in the squad. Good to know Hodgson is no longer just picking the big time Charlies.
Just goes to show. Sacked Sheff Weds (I think), nearly sacked football all together, settled for non lge, got noticed by Leicester, made his championship debut, forced his way into the 1st team, became a star of our promotion season, made his debut as a prem player, scored his 1st prem goal, helped keep Leicester up & NOW THIS.... Leicester legend Just goes to show.
Even since he has been with us he has had doubts about being able to make it. Biggest congrats go to the lad himself but then also to the City coaching staff for believing in him and helping him see he could be a top player which this season we have seen he is. Nugent may have got goal of the season but for me that winner at WBA showed what a class act he is.
It wouldn't matter if he was playing for hull , he isn't good enough to feature on an international level for England , on another note I wish him all the best on what is likely to be his one and only cap . Ps would you be of the same opinion if he had signed for wba ?
Fettis - one of the reasons for our 'great escape' was a change of formation and tactics. If you are looking at Vardy being part of a boring, ball retention international team - then you are quite right - he is not an international player. By and large over the last few years I have been bored brainless by international football. Perhaps Woy is experimenting by using an on form goal scorer (Austin) and a player of pure passion and effectiveness in what he does (Vardy). International class needs redefining, cos at the moment it just means fitting in to a tried and tested (and failed) system. Vardy is a completely different option - I just hope Woy doesnt try and put shackles on him if he plays.
Aren't you on the championship board yet... Jeez The state Of the current Hull squad... Never a premiership team.
