Manchester United Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson tells Danny Welbeck he must stay at Old Trafford Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Danny Welbeck he will not be leaving Manchester United on loan despite Steve Bruceâs desire to take him back to Sunderland. The striker was given extra time off after playing for the England Under-21 side in their unsuccessful European Championship campaign in Denmark, but has already been told by Ferguson he has a role to play in the first team at Old Trafford and should not expect to return to Wearside. Although Welbeck has privately indicated he would prefer to go back out on loan if he is not going to start regularly, Ferguson is an admirer of the 20-year-old and the young striker will not risk his long term future at United by arguing with the Scotâs decision. That situation could change if Ferguson decides Welbeck would benefit more starting every week rather than offering cover at Old Trafford to Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez, but it is a big gamble for Bruce to take. The Sunderland manager wants to add another two new signings to the nine he has already landed this summer, with a striker and a wide midfielder needed to finish an ambitious overhaul of his squad.
I will continue to support the lad, and when he becomes the scorer of the winning goal in the 2018 World Cup, I will tell everybody that it was Sunderland who gave him his break, and made him into the great player he is now.
Wellbeck rumours rank only number2 behind that french fella.......Another one i wish could be sorted out.
