Exactly Jimmy, nothing wrong with confidence in your own ability but surely he looks at stats that tell him for example he hasn't got a Scooby Doo defensively and/or substitutions at incorrect times during games taking the best player on and putting a worse option in his place.

But as it looks like he'll be here next season let's hope the required changes behind the scenes are made and accepted for the good of the club.

I feel FSG set the tone when he turned them down cos he wanted x and y.

    They looked weak.

rodgers looks to be weak as well with not much disciplining for players going on..

they whole club is back to the bad old days under evans when it all broke down.

We need a task master in charge and I think a DoF is required

Wasn't Houlier originally employed by the club as a DoF?

He was deffo the better option than Evans, and to Evans credit he acknowledged that and fell on his sword.

  4. No, that was just what Evans was told.

Well the club might conspire to do the same to Brendan, if they do I hope the DoF's credentials are good.

  6. I'm trying to remember what Evans said about it. I know he was told they were looking to bring Houllier in to support him but can't recall if it was DoF or as an assistant etc. It may have been all of them at some stage <laugh> Evans didn't find out they were equals until just before it was announced. He said he should have walked away there and then but his love for the club made him give it a go. In the end he knew it wasn't working and whilst the reason the club had done it that way was because they didn't want to sack or demote him so resigned.

Recalling the arrival of Houllier, Evans admits: "In hindsight I should never have agreed to the whole thing. Initially, I understood Gerard was coming in to replace Ronnie Moran who had retired in the summer. We'd talked about getting in another coach and we'd discussed the possibilities of having some foreign input but it soon became clear that Gerard was here to be more than a coach.
"I'd had a few doubts about it back in the summer when it was first put to me but I had just flown back from holiday and perhaps wasn't in the best frame of mind to make that sort of decision."
Evans goes on to explain how the partnership deteriorated and how it was on a plane home from Valencia, following an incident-packed UEFA Cup tie that he finally decided to walk away from the club he loves.

It sounds like Rodgers will be put through the mill at his end of season review.

He won't get away with soundbites and waffle, that's for sure.

I wonder how many of the players and staff he'll lob under the bus during that couple of hours?

I think he'll probably just about survive, but I also think he'll be given some firm performance expectations and a message that failure isn't an option.

For me he's a dead man walking, already.

I'm guessing the committee will be his focus, and I'm sure he'll mention Mario since he's blamed for everything else this season.

They were only being nice to Evans, because they did not like to sack him.<ok>

<laugh> I'm sure you've already played out the meeting many times in your #bitter fantasies

Whereas Martinez's meeting will be "I said I'll get you CL football. I broke your transfer record and bought the 7th most expensive squad in the league. We're 10th. We might finish 12th on GD. Good enough." <ok>

I'm sure Martinez is in for a grilling as well, albeit in a way that's less scientific would be my guess.

However, are you going to actually challenge anything I said there, or are you just going to go on the front foot and talk ****?

There will be a meeting, as there is every year, at which areas for improvement will be discussed. Everything else is your #bitter speculation and does not need to be challenged.

"Having made that rant I think Rodgers will get another season from our owners but with far less to spend, which points to another season of struggle".<grr>

This is the telling paragraph. That's how I see it, but I hope against hope we won't get the "struggle".

That will depend on quality and quantity of any new comers.
