4-4-2 Harper Rosi Dawson Chester Robertson Elmo Thud Meyler Brady Jelavic N'Doye Abandon our 352 bollocks, any manager worth his salt knows that all they have to do is cut the supply to our wing backs and were screwed. Playing 442 as above allows overlaps to develop and at least it gives the opposition full backs something to think about.
That's not far off our Championship team mate but I would expect Harper to retire, Chester, Robertson gone and MAYBE N'Doye. To be replaced by McGreggor, Bruce, McShane and a (probably) 'on-loan' Striker.
This is what I would go for, harsh on McShane, so do expect he will stay with 3 at the back to accommodate him.
What about keeping the 3-5-2 but pushing Brady into the middle? ___________Harper ___Chester_Dawson_Mcshane Elmohamady__________Robertson ___Hudd/Meyler__Quinn __________Brady _____N'Doye_Jelavic
I think that teams far too attacking and doesn't offer the protection needed against a Man Utd side full of attacking quality. Harper Chester Bruce Dawson McShane Figueroa Elmo Meyler Huddlestone Brady Aluko/Hernandez We need to sit back, dig deep, keep it tight and soak up the pressure, and hope someone with a bit of pace can latch on to one of our hoofs or clearances. Attacking a weak Man Utd defence would be footballing suicide. We should invite them onto us and let them play to their strengths without trying to exploit their weakness as we did at their place. It worked magnificently and with just a little bit more luck we would have got worselves three points.
If you play with 5 at the back and two defensive minded midfielders then you deserve to go down. How can you think like that when you need to win? You need to be on the front foot and go with the "we'll score more than you" approach.
Agreed. We might as well get beat 0-5 than 0-1 but a 3-2 might do it. If we win, our goal difference wont matter as either Sunderland stay up on points accrued or they lose 2 and their GD is automatically worse than ours.
If you mean me I confess I didnt even read his post. I only agreed with AKCJ about it needing to be an attacking team.
Plan B "Law 3 in the FIFA Law Book states there cannot be less than 7 players of a team, on the field during play." So if we go 2-0 down early on we need a mass brawl with 3 of ours sent off and 5 injured (to cover substitutions) Apparently the FA then judge whether to have a replay or let the result stand. So if there's enough time left on the clock we could get another bite at the cherry.
jELAVIC showed that he is not match fit so ALUKO in for me as the only change from Spurs. imo. We need pace and to get at them from the off.
Get at them from the off by playing with 5 defenders, no width and only two attacking players on the pitch? Have you ever thought about going for a brain scan?
