Wimbledon applied to the FA to change its name to MK Dons just like Woolwich Arsenal did and Leyton Orient. According to the FA they are the same club which is why they started (continued) life in the Football League. AFC Wimbledon had to do what MK Dons should have done and started life in non-league football and worked their way up. The fact that AFC Wimbledon are seen as the continuation of Wimbledon shows that the football supporters perception of a club is more important than the technicalities of how owns the company that runs it. One day AFC Hull City may be seen as having a history that goes back to 1904, whilst Hull Tigers started life in 2015.
Just what I feared, so by trying to get one back at Allams you lot will effectively be screwing the club over at the same time, whether it is called Hull City or Hull Tigers. SO what you want is low attendance, poor performances, crashing down the leagues to then force Allam to leave and then hope that someone else can pick up all the mess? That's a sound logic.

Sorry Obadiah but I think you are talking twaddle. If the name changes (unlikely) from Hull City to Hull Tigers, as per this specific proposal, it will still be the same team, playing in the same place, with the same structure. I will continue to support it. To try & bring hypothetical situations into the argument is just fudging the issue & the sign of a weak argument.

Right, so then if we change our name to Hull Tigers, we should reform in non-league then? Wimbledon didn't only apply to change their name, they were taken over and relocated and a whole new club was formed. The Wimbledon that exists in League 2 is the continuation of the previous Wimbledon, MK Dons are an entirely seperate entity. Otherwise it's like City being moved to Whitby, being renamed Whitby Tigers and claiming it's the same team just playing somewhere else. The situation at Wimbledon is totally different and not applicable, they were a city without a club and essentially bought somebody elses and moved it to them. We're talking about how stupid the name Hull Tigers sounds. And it does sound ridiculous.
The whole reasoning behind the name change is based on a hypothetical business model Allam has created. Which, as you say, is why his argument for the name change is so weak.
The football club Wimbledon FC applied to the FA to change its name and move to Milton Keynes. Legally and in the FA's books MK Dons is the same club, which is why they held onto the FA Cup until 2007. Legally and technically AFC Wimbledon is a separate entity from both Wimbledon and MK Dons. They are seen as the same club as the old Wimbledon because hundreds of thousands of people dislike what MK Dons did and give them the right to Wimbledon's history. If we had two football clubs in Hull, one called Hull Tigers and one called AFC Hull City the wider football family will decide who owns the history of Hull City AFC. It doesn't have to be Hull Tigers just because its the "same" team registered with the FA.
On this "Asian Market" theme.. I travel quite a lot, 3 weeks ago I spent some time in Thailand and although it's true that PL football is popular there is no sign of any interest outside of the "Big 5" apart from one Everton shirt in Bangkok.. People over there also customize their car plates with LFC etc.. Now, Mr Vincent Tan, a Thai himself and owner of Cardiff Dragons.. erm sorry, City.. has certainly not made any impression on the Thai scene.. not one of their shirts in sight.. not even any Newcastle (English tourist in Cambodia excluded), Spurs or any smaller clubs... There was a Leicester City shop in Abu Dhabi airport.. bet they'll go global now they've survived.. no, I bet they don't..

If you can't see what would be more detrimental to the club, an old stubborn man spouting bullshit every now and then. And not getting his way VS a **** load of fans deserting The club to get their own back at him . the FA are going to block any proposal, so I'm Not really sure why some would still stop supporting the team when they've clearly "won". I get a load of **** for not attending many games on the basis of my geographical location but now "real fans" are somehow going to Suggest not attending games or renewing a season pass would in actual fact be a show of support, in some weird reverse psychology way. Ok then...
He's ripping the club apart fine in his own. The name change is only a small part of that. He's made it quite clear we're not part of his club. But of course we should just cough up whatever price he decides we're paying and suck it up. "Don't protest", "Don't sing City songs", now it's "Don't walk away." Just keep coming and paying your money to be repeatedly screwed by the Allam empire. No thanks.
Precisely, we have always been against the name change but would have reluctantly accepted it and carried on with a season pass but just not bought any other merchandise etc with Hull Tigers on it. However the whole business of him doing anything he can to punish us fans for not supporting his idea has finally pushed us over the edge, I have never felt so alienated from the club hierarchy as I do now.
