I'm not exactly cheerleading for the legalization of heroin, but there are many issues of legality about which the western world has been wrong.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but I disagree as you already know. Just because something is set in a country's laws does not necessarily make it it right, logical or indeed, worthy of enforcing. I am not talking about a blanket legalisation of everything, as I don't believe crack cocaine or crystal meth have any good qualities however cannabis in particular does, as its use medicinally shows.
Substances that you consider drugs are only different to substances you consider entirely acceptable, especially alcohol, in that the " drugs" are illegal. When alcohol was illegal in the US, did it suddenly become a worse substance than it used to be? Only in the eyes of the law in that case, and look at the consequences that arose from that particular piece of legislation - massive rise in organised crime that has never gone away since.
Politicians make enough mistakes for me to realise that some laws are just plain wrong - created for the wrong reasons and designed to counter something that doesn't actually need legislating against.
The ignorance displayed by some of the anti-drugs supporters I have come across in my life is staggering, and you are a prime example. You started your first comment on this subject with the proviso that you actually know nothing about drugs, and then proceeded to argue why they are bad based on absolutely no experience or indeed knowledge of the substances, effects or historical reasons why they are illegal. If you had done some research, and had a certain amount of knowledge about what you were talking about, I might have given you more credit however your blinkered opinion isn't worth any further responses from me.
My very long post a few pages ago started with a comment about the circular nature of this debate because I knew that logic and common sense will always be countered by ignorance, prejudice and dubious assumptions and just go on and on with no resolution. I've had enough of this particular one though, so thanks for your input saintalfie, despite what I thought of it.

Had some in Jersey once....they taste better there than anywhere. They were quite large, because they export the small ones...makes me wonder if they would be tastier if allowed to get bigger.

My wife told me that on the this morning when she heard it on the radio. Shame, because I thought Kylie and I could have made a go out it, but as she's lowering her standards....

First season of reporting on football, and getting paid for it, and I've just had confirmation that I've got the L2 final at Wembley this weekend.

Now to just count the hours...

Best wishes to Southend, DTLW. They just pip Wycombe as the side I want to win because it means so much to you. They're both southern sides of course, so my bias wouldn't otherwise be obvious.

Season ticket booked (why is the website so hard to work? Is it just me cos I'm old and technologically challenged? I ended up, apparently, blocking the seat so when I went to buy it, I was told it was unavailable. So I called the ticket office, they couldn't unblock it and I had to wait 15 minutes, sweating in case some Tom, Dick or Dave had snaffled it ..........)
Anyway, got it now - and just received the confirmation e-mail, so meltdown over ................:emoticon-0105-wink:

That happened to me when booking a seat...let me reserve it, but not pay for it...so, like you, had to sit it out. More worrying for a season ticket though.
