As a member of the Labour Party and a frequent visitor to related forums, I don't think he was going to get elected anyway and he may have realised this. He was not even in mt top five to be honest..
Andy Burnham will get the job, he's always looked fairly decent when I've seen him on Question Time as well.
What gets me is this insistence by all parties and the media, BBC led to force as many women / ethnic minorities to the front of the queue as is humanly possible, irrespective of whether they bring anything to the table or not. What we have ended up with is second rate, but you are not allowed to say without upsetting the PC brigade.
There's barely any women or ethnic minorities in there. Maybe we should get rid of more white men and they'll do a better job. I don't believe in quotas or positive discrimination in the slightest but what you're talking about is getting rid of them because they're women. It's negative discrimination and it's backwards. The country has been mismanaged by men and women, black and white. You bringing gender and race into is is just as bad as them with their pushing.
No its not, I am just pointing out what I think is wrong, as is my right. You may not agree, no problem, but to move forward we need the best people at the top. And this pushing out experience and quality in the rush for equality is madness imo.
the current runners and riders for the labour leadership are all crap. They all spout the same sh**e, "aspiration this, aspiration that" because they think that's the answer.............they haven't a clue. I pray for a day when a labour leader with a real vision for this country will emerge. and I don't care if it's man/woman, black/white, gay or straight.
I didn't say they weren't, if they are the best candidate they should get the job regardless of gender and race. You said get rid of the women. Suggesting they can't be.
If you can name every single female MP never mind go in to any detail on why they're not worth keeping on I'll eat Paddy Ashdown's hat.
The last visionary leader was Harold Wilson in the '60s who thrashed out a deal with the TUC about the way he saw UK going collectively and the TUC agreed in principle, the Unions themselves would not endorse it at the TUC annual fonference and eventually a strong Labour government was thrown out. It ain't always the politicians fault.
