Bates is not only difficult to get decent wages from but is far less likely to offer improved contracts than other clubs. He seems quite happy to run down contracts ie Becks, Johnson, Kilkenny. Any new players signing realise they will likely be locked into their wages for the full duration of their contracts. No agent wants this scenario as a large chunk of their money is made from moving players around as much as possible. Would be interesting to see his policy if we get promoted while he's still in charge
Bates reminds me of how Jim MacLean used to run Dundee United, it was dreadful man management and used and abused players rights. His business style died years ago, but he's an old man and is used to his old style of doing things, I'd just count the days until he is no more.
Doesn't the manager have to take some responsibility for that? The chairman can't go around offering extended and improved contracts to players, without knowing whether or not they're in the manager's long-term plans. It's up to the manager to recommend that certain players should be signed to improved terms. We never had this problem before Grayson arrived.
Very true Clive we signed everyone and went bust then nobody wanted to come then we got relegated twice......... You do talk utter ****!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! A Clivetime comment! At least I know to keep ignoring him, still talking bollocks. Two words Peter Ridsdale, me thinks he had quite a lot to do with transfer dealings, Seth Johnson springs to mind!!
