This is really annoying me. 1) The red and white stripes are the other way round 2) The sleeves are red and not white 3) We'll have black detailing/print and not blue like Stoke 4) The back panel of the neck is not white, but red 5) It's got Veho, not bet365 on the front Just a few quick fire differences. Oh and most importantly... ...it's got a Saints badge on. It's a Southampton shirt.
Looks like Stoke's away kit is the reverse of ours. So were like an anti-Stoke, which has to be a good thing?
That was a one off. It would kind of spoil the point that it was a special kit to mark our 125th anniversary if we had it again.
I don't mind stripes and I don't mind going for a more unique design (sash etc), but this is exactly the same as this season's kit pretty much. They could have given us thicker stripes or how about thin black lines in between the stripes like the Alan Shearer Draper Tool's kit.
I loved the purported Cortese kit for that reason. It was so ugly, so irrational and so twisted that it became a masterpiece. I might have bought one, trans-Atlantic shipping and all. Wouldn't have worn it, mind.
Although it's a standard template, I do quite like it - better than the monstrosity of the last adidas kit we had.
The kit is ok. But that's about as far as it goes. I've actually found the build up videos pretty amusing, but the climax completely underwhelming. Even fonte & the guy in the video where nonplussed. It's like- ok it's a striped adidas top. Hardly life changing. I think it looks sharp enough & i like the collar, but it's going to take a lot more than that to inspire me to spend the no-doubt 60-odd quid they'll want for it. For that money i want something *special*. For the record- on that basis, the last shirt I bought was the sash, despite taking a genuine interest in the kit launch every year. They just continue to disappoint & get more expensive
