Yup, that story was awful and unnecessary, as was most of the Mereen ****e they blessedly cut out. Though i really hope they include Victarion and the Manderlys next season. It seems unlikely at this point but i remain hopeful. Those two were absolute highlights for me.

Your dead right, i love these sort of debates down the pub over a pint, they don't really flow on a forum although it does pass the time. Anyone want to discuss politics?:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Any punk fans out there seeing Strung-Out when they come to UK in a few months? I'm seeing them at a small pub in Brighton, my heroes of the past reduced from selling out arenas to playing small pubs... Good for me though

One of our great Prime Ministers (and you can't say that about most of them). She saved the country from going down the tubes...you had to be there to know it. The Unions were running the place as an unelected body and making ordinary people's day to day life hell. There was a reason she got re-elected.

Too bloody right - you had to be around in 1979 to see just how far down the pan the daft leftie communist union movement had drug this great country. That's why the sensible people of this country spoke at the ballot box and elected Mrs Thatcher, and she remained in power for a long time.

The people who moan about Thatcher closing the coal mines are the same people who don't like using coal because it's unclean!

Without wanting to open up old, or probably very old wounds now, I disagree entirely. Although, most people have probably guessed by now that I am a lifelong man of the left.

I just think £15m when you are proposing billions in public sector and welfare cuts, is too much to spend on a museum, that will probably be vandalised when built. I won't condone that, but people who pretend that Thatcher united this country, are living in cloud cuckoo land.
I disliked her, but many hate her with a passion.

Anyway, I won't go on and on, because I know many get fed up with politics clogging up this page.

Factually, it's not being paid for by the government. It's being paid for privately. So it's not linked in any way, shape or form with public spending.

One is a cruel oppressive fascist dictator who preyed on the weak and vulnerable. The country was divided into the have and have nots where any practice was acceptable as long as it made money. The demonisation of minority groups was actively encouraged.

The other one is General Pinochet

Politics, eh? Who'd want it banned on here? Not me, for sure. Love it. People always prepared to look at arguments with an open mind sans preconceptions.

And I mean people on all sides. The fact that this bit's another anti-Tory rant is neither here nor there. I'd say the same if you were attacking Blair. Or Brown. Or Clegg. It's dull, you're showing off and isn't going to change anyone's mind.

Now this time I really am taking a month off in the hope that political postings are banned somewhat more effectively than they have been so far.

Actually, that'll stretch out until my traditional summer break to avoid transfer hysteria, so I guess I'll be seeing you in August. Have a lovely summer full of political discourse. I'll be back when the football starts again.

Yes I was a school leaver in the Thatcher years it was not a good place to be I can assure you....
Party's up and down the UK when she died gives an indication of what people thought of her.

You are forgetting her funeral where people paid their respects. Knocking Thatcher is just the fashionable thing to do..often by young people who have no idea. Britain, immediately pre-Thatcher, was a dreadful place with strikes everywhere...we weren't known as the sick man of Europe for nothing. It was good to be able to hold your head up again. Her 3 election victories does not suggest a suffering people. Of course there are always consequences....if any financial plan was perfect all countries would adopt it. We needed a powerful leader at a time of crisis and we got one. Britain was going down the tubes.
