Was gutted when Big Billy left for Newcastle , £230,00 as well , peanuts. Did you all know he made his debut for Newcastle in a Luton Town shirt ?

Is "I aren't" the most Hull phrase ever? I never even twigged that it was wrong until I moved and everyone laughed their tits off when I said it.

I've been a Hull exile for almost 40 years, I don't have much of the accent left but ''I aren't'' slips easily off the tongue.

Average gate was about 5k and I bet most of that 5k would be up in arms about the name change bollocks if it happened back then, proper fans. All the plastics were away supporting Liverpool and TWS before that, the equivalents to the ones who boo their own fans nowadays

Vague memories of this, did the kit-man forget to pack the shirts or there was a colour clash or something

I think if memory serves me Newcastle forget to pack their kit . I cant imagine Newcastle's home kit clashing with Luton's home kit to be honest. Billy definitely wore Luton's home white shirt for his debut.

It seems strange to me that the Allams are trying to associate themselves with the history of the club while at the same time trying to dismantle its history.

It's entirely predictable. They don't give a toss about the Club's history but by throwing up the odd reference to it, they are seeking to reassure and control gullible fans that the Club's tradition is safe in their hands. For example the travesty of removing the Club's name from the badge but, for the time being at least, including its date of formation.

I am quite convinced "Hull Tigers" would become "The Tigers", the ground would be relocated outside Hull (in fact, there could be several "home" grounds), and any references to City would be removed faster than an unfashionable Politburo member from a photograph of Stalin.
