You expecting Van Gaal to travel back in time and change the result of one of the 9 games listed in the OP?
Hang on. If he is an abject failure for scraping through, what does that make Rodgers? The most abject pathetic failure ever??? We need to get rid as soon as possible.
TBF Rodgers had a net spend of £28m last window and Van Gaal had £104m (not including Falcao) so scraping through because of Sturridge's injury is a disgrace for Man Utd
Is this some reverse logic? Why is it all about money spent? The mancs were pathetic, lost 3 matches, and opened the door for us to go through. We should have gone through but by losing points when we shouldn't, refused to. Especially after we have had a great run prior to the Mancs and Arsenal match. We collapsed and out of the CL yet we've done better than them? This is red tinted glasses and putting on a gloss of the most extreme kind.
Equally Rodgers had been in charge for two seasons, was going into his third season off the back of a second placed finish and had been handed a £100m+ war chest to improve his squad with the bonus of CL football to attract players. Whereas LVG was going into a debut season with a shambles of a squad that had finished 7th the previous season and had to overspend on players due to a lack of CL football. I'm not saying LVG has done a great job, he's done an adequate job in my opinion, but when it comes to Rodgers, you can spin it anyway you like and the reality will always be that he's had a shocker of a season and categorically failed to cope without Suarez. I don't get why you consider him to be beyond any kind of criticism. It doesn't make you come across as loyal, more foolish.
There's no gloss, there's just reality. Our problems like Sturridge being injured and Gerrard being old are obvious and will be fixed. (If Rodgers doesn't fix them then yes he should go.) Man Utd were just ****. There's no fix for that, so if we aren't also **** next season we win. #simple
on the other hand we all knew sturrdige was made of galss and gerrard is not benjamin button so rodgers has already failed to address both.
I am sure there is some rationale and logic in there somewhere. I am sure there must be others here who can understand it.
Any manager would have been cursed with having to handle Gerrard's last season. Sturridge was fine last season, and this season the injuries all started when England got involved, so like Suarez biting at the World Cup that was outside of Rodgers' control.
