Bloody hell, a 20 year old student has been elected in Scotland. She's not even finished her Politics degree and she's an MP!

Clearly, you don't understand why the Lib Dems lost those votes.

Even better, they'll win the next one too, since Boris Johnson will be leader by then, and everyone will vote Conservative because of him.

I think one of the major reasons was over tuition fees. For that they have paid a heavy price! Tories equally culpable but people just don't get it!!

I don't think you can point to specific things...people were taking an overall view. Voters of a right wing persuasion who might have voted Lib-Dem, Green or UKIP were too scared of a Labour government possibly needing the support of the SNP. And that would be on top of those happy with the present government.

The Tories won more seats in a 6 minute period than the amount of seats Lib Dems have won overall. :)

Why do socialists feel it is okay to criticise Tory MPs and use language of the thirties....The Mirror is particularly guilty of it and it makes them look stupid. It would be like me saying that we can't have those flat cap-wearing unwashed in Parliament. Times have moved on.

I can only assume those who voted Tory don't like free health care.

Unfortunately, that's the kind of rhetorical trick that makes your position look weak and infantile. I don't like either party, but let's not re-write history in self-serving, emotive red letters that, when put into sequence, spell GIBRISH - and, spell it poorly.

Labout lost because they are not Labour. They do not represent the working man. They represent consensus party politics. They are a hangover of Blair and, until they get some genuine working men into the party who genuinely reflect the working man - and are willing to state some real policies - they will remain in the wilderness.

The SNP stand for an idea and the people of Scotland came out in droves. Labour are like Portsmouth - a former Premier outfit which sold its soul and needs to rebuild as part of the community it has moved away from.

The scaremongering of the Tory campaign won the day.
    Farage didn't win.

Ok serious question, why was there never a separate election thread set up? All this **** on Koemans has pretty much made this thread unusable as an off topic thread.
