That PSG game goes along way to proving how winning erases the memory. We all look back at that game as poor tactical approach, poor performances on the pitch and a lost opportunity. But we were ahead in the tie 3 times and they scored a late late goal knocking us out on away goals. Had that late goal not gone in, most would just see it as another Jose type performance and result. Easy to forget we did ok in the away leg, much better than the previous season. But one tie we won, one we lost.... So basically, the style is forgotten quicker than the result IMO.
I want to see some key signings this summer. Jose nailed it with our signings last season and got exactly what was needed. We need two midfielders, a new backup keeper (assuming Cech does one), a striker, and a left back. Cech, Drogba, Luis, and probably Oscar are all but certain to leave. Though I hope Ramires and Mikel leave too. I already said what I think Jose should do, our squad could be completely overheauled for a net spend of less than £40m
If we could get Begovic, Coentrao, Koke, Alderweireld and Lacazette in with the above mentioned out then I think we would have had a good window. I'd let Ramires and Oscar go if we could get Bale in, with Depay at United now we would be Bale's likeliest destination and I'd surprisngly like Willian into the CAM role, he's got better drive than the rest.
A game was played last night that should serve as a wake up call to any Chelsea fan who thinks winning is all that matters. Different planet to anything im England. Miles and miles ahead of all of us.
Every tom, dick & harry was waxing lyrical about Pep for 54 mins. And then he was made to look like absolute 'tard. That is sexy football and getting up the backside. how it blew up on his face. You can't play beauty stuff all the time.
You keep believing it, hype boy. Does everything that is sensationalised on TV or in print make you pop a Woody? Or is it just Van Gaal's CV?
Stop believing the Sky hype. Football is 11 vs 11, as Chelsea have proved on numerous occasions taking out Bayern and Barca. Although I concede United are miles behind Chelsea again
Just saw the Real- Juve game, Real were done by a team that played a "Chelsea" kind of game, "clever" defence as opposed to bus parking, and hounding the more skilful Real players into the ground. Great discipline and effort. They will be up against it with Barca though, a much more potent team than they were under Pep.
