**** him.... Telling him a game of yes/no will get you off his back on it Just rattle off all the names then ask who was missing
But Gez, the whole experience thing is useless if there is no underlying quality. You mention Kolo, Johnson and Gerrard - abundance of experience but are arguably our worst players. What good is experience if you're a poor player (trying hard not to use the word average now!)?
That was one of five points made and I know it would be the one you picked up on. Those three have been our worst players but Milner isn't as old or bad as any of them. You obviously don't rate Milner which is fair enough, Milner often splits opinions. There are a few on here that would like to see us sign him and a few that wouldn't. I guess that's football.
I can see value in milner here. Not the same value as villa got when they bought him for 12mil and sold for a profit thereafter but I think the wage is not offputting to me and I feel he will improve our team. frankly joe allen, lucas and gerrard as where we are at for last 3 games this year... none are good enough and so all could go. we need this guy in to even give the numbers required to compete on 4 fronts next year.
But this is the issue - we're essentially signing him because we need options and that he's cheap. Is he an upgrade? Will he walk into the first team? Again, I'm not so sure. And Gez has said this numerous times - we shouldn't be signing players to simply fill a place in the squad. We should be improving the first team each and every time. Also - looks like Depay is off to United ...
Milner would improve our first team and would be very cheap... (As well as help home grown quota as we're losing Gerrard and Johnson and possibly sterling so would take a hit)
You are absolutely right, I have said that many times and seeing people justify Milner's signing with "he's better than what we've got" is irritating me but I'd not picked up on it purely because I'd look like i was contradicting myself. That is not why I want us to sign Milner, I want us to sign Milner because he is a quality player that would fit in well and not cost a lot of money. I also believe a trio of Can, Hendo and Milner would be very strong and (believe it or not) make us hard to beat too. Compliment that with Coutinho and a couple of quality strikers and we suddenly have the makings of a very good attacking side that wouldn't be as suspect to the counter-attack as we were last year. Just need to improve the defence a bit too #getflannofit
As much as i mentioned Milner is #average which i'm surprised MITO doesn't feel the same (considering what his definition of average is), he is worth getting on a free. He's another work horse, will add squad depth and he is probably just a little bit better than your standard starting 11. For that price its worth getting at, as long as he doesn't become your marquee signing and as long as it doesn't actually affect you guys buying class
Milner and Hendo in the middle with Can behind and Coutinho in front looks great to me. If we bought a proper DM then Milner, Hendo and Can can fight it out for those two B2B roles with Allen as back-up.
18 million pounds apparently. Well we will just have to stump up 15 million to prevent united getting Ings
I'd put him above average. he's better than joe allen by a margin so if allen is average then milner is above average. In the end its better than we have.
Remember the Willian fiasco agrees to sign for liverpool, has a medical at spurs and signs for Chelsea #hereshoping #strawcluctching Does this lend credence to the rumors of Di Maria to PSG ??
Quality player with immense potential. Shame we couldn't get in there first. But never mind, at least we have Lallana.
