I completely disagree, the CL is a far higher standard than the Premier League. The CL is for the elite in European club competition, only the elite clubs from each league have a chance in the CL for a reason, to make the standard so high. There is a hell of a lot of dross in the Prem this year, the same in La Liga and Bundesliga, but any dross in the CL would have no chance of getting through.
You're certainly right about the competitive aspect, I think the Sky money helps to provide a more evenly matched league than we see in Spain for example. However, I'm not sure that any of our clubs will ever gain the amount of pulling power that Barca/Real/Bayern have. We've seen it in the past (Ronaldo, Bale, Fabregas, Suarez, I'm sure Aguero & Hazard in future) that if these clubs come calling for our best players/managers then they are going, whoever the PL club is. Apart from Big Ron of course who will retire as Saints manager
Clyne's statement strikes me as advice from his management. Something along the lines of: 'Remember the sh*t that Lallana, Lovern, Shaw and even Chambers got last season? Let's play this one clever Clynie (I bet you they call him Clynie) you'll get the move you want regardless and it makes you look great in the eyes of the fans and in the media, you win in every way'. He's been gone since this season started and so will every single really good footballer we ever get at this club, within two or three years. It's just the way it is.
Can I enjoy bringing this post up and throwing it in your face if he doesn't leave..? You can enjoy saying told you so if he does.
Sadly players are being coached these days on "Media speak". Saying things which will keep the fans guessing and happy, While sending signals to other clubs "I'm up for grabs" if you put in a good offer. After last years exodus I really have problems with believing much of what players say when it comes to how they feel about being here at Saints. To be fair to Clyne he has made no secret of his ambitions.
Lets all just chill. What will be will be. Whatever happens I'm feeling confident we will be stronger than ever next season. Onwards and uopwards!
Completely agree Lammy onwards and upwards......as for chilling......where's the bloody summer?.......70 mile an hour gusts of winds. Try playing golf in that!!
You most certainly can, I love it when I'm wrong, look at my predictions in the Prediction League, every time I predict Saints to pick up points they lose and every time I think they'll get nothing they get points! I won't throw it back in your face, it's all about opinions anyway, I'm no more correct than most on here, I'm just saying what I think The trouble with forums and messages boards it is hard to get across your actual mood or meaning, when I made my last post I am chilled out, I'm not angry or sad or anything, just sort of saying how I see it. As I said it's is the way it is and getting overly emotional about it is not going to change a thing. The club has been here a long time and will be here a long time after I'm gone.
As I said on the transfer thread the other day. I talked to a guy (not the person I usually get info from) who works at Saints and he said the rumours going about are Clyne will stay. Nothing about him signing a new deal tho.
Same here. Unless Clyne is worried he will get as injury prone as Shaw... (I joke no one can be that bad).
