Buying players at this level is a different ball game. Only the very rich clubs can play.

What Real has shown is that paying for the very top players at whatever price makes the club money as long as you stay within FFP rules. When Moyes was sacked, I said United should go on a buying spree and buy whoever top world class players available. I predicted that the club would not lose any money even though they were not in the CL. Why? The purchase of expensive players increased the global profile of the club and the income from shirt sales increased and that from various endorsements and advertising/sponsorships increased massively.

If you were going for 4th place, why agonise over getting a VFM player? when going for very expensive players will achieve that objective too AND increase your income and profits.

That is why I can see LVG getting a massive budget to go for the very top players. It looks like the GGs have gone for the Real Madrid MO <ok>

Yes but that does not fit in with the MO of the GGs. They've decided they are going to spend big to earn big. If the club also win the title or trophies so much the better.

They've found that the club does not need to win titles to stay at the top of the money tree. Challenging and being in the CL may well be enough. As long as they don't play boring football like Chelsea, in which case their global profile will collapse in no time.

St last a reply worth answering, rather than one of Matths nonesensical ones. Bale would be a superb addition, but like chief says, other players are needed first. have far more faith in the manager this year, than the same time just over 12 months ago.

Could be LVG is right, next year we will be serious contenders

I agree, although I really would like to see Bale at United. That said we will need some quality additions in the squad if we are in the CL next year.

I can see De Maria moving to PSG in exchange for Cavani and then De Gea to RM to part fund Bale (player plus £40m). We lose RVP freeing up his wages which in essence means we gain a striker and Bale for a total of £40m, plus the saving on wages - PLUS the revenues from merchandising and the all-new Adidas strip. Not bad. That leaves us plenty of cash to splash on other areas where the squad needs strengthening (including a new keeper).

If that logic holds, why did Sanchez reject Liverpool?

Why should Sanchez go to a mid table team, who is going to be established in the Europa for years? The RS are only good for the likes of lambert, balotelli coutinho and rubbish like that <laugh>

After last night's performance, all Bale did was to reduce his transfer fee

He'll definitely be sold this summer. Wouldn't be surprised to see a swap deal with Hazard. Real are clearly in for him as Zidane has been tasked with talking him up in the press.
