One of the things going through my mind with all the current shenanigans, was that I'd thought the football experience was dieing on it's arse back then.

Having a look round, and Southampton, a club I thought we'd do well to emulate seem to be having similar thoughts to many of us.

Is all the angst against the owners masking a deeper rooted problem?

    It's the Premier League.

It just isn't 'fun'. It's too stale, clinical, corporate.

The Championship and below always seemed more enjoyable, even when we weren't near the top.

Yes I think it is the Premier League, with the increase in TV money, the fans are becoming irrelevant in the eyes of club owners. I get the feeling we are become and extra in an entertaining production about football.

Most clubs fans moan about their owners, whether they think they should be throwing more of their kids inheritance at it, through to the pies are crap.

Thankless task unless you've bottomless pockets.

I think a lot of it is down to human nature and the ageing process.

The longing for the good old days which, when analysed properly, were not good at all.

I agree completely when the Southampton fan says 'Is this as good as it's ever going to get?'

I had exactly the same feeling after the cup final that it was as good as we will ever do it was our time and we still couldn't do it.

Every season in the premier league for teams like us it is all about getting 17th place. For teams like West Ham Swansea Stoke it's finish as best of the rest. The odd good season like Southampton floating in between then Everton Spurs Liverpool Europa league and the top four. It's stale repetitive and predictable year after year.

There is a ceiling that should not be there that is created by the premier league and the money and the only way past the ceiling is to have a billionaire owner to pay to go through it.

You've just described football as a whole. The predictability affects every league. You'll get a nice new team with a fairy tale story every now and then but that's about it.

Ah has the penny dropped at last? What I have been saying for yonks the PL is a spent force for all those who don't know any better, oh yes I can be proved wrong with statisics but who was it who said there are lies, damn lies and statistics? They knew a thing or two.
