Take a look at the offence again - their player flew through the air rolled all over the ground then jumped up running after Cattermole while the ref was booking him. Total playacting, but it worked for them.
He got booked for a slight tug of a shirt..Two minutes later a Southampton player done exactly the same, only difference being that it broke down a very promising attacking move for us, and the ref did not book their player..
On only one viewing (I was in France at the weekend) I'd say both were penalties but I've seen them NOT given. Good decisions, a rarity! I don't think a red card was fair because I'm not sure Defoe was going to get a shot away due to covering defender ( and a ropey touch!)
What utter ****e. He slid in for the ball and got nothing. The Southampton player was rolling around but managed to get up when Danny Graham called him a cheating diver! I saw 10 worse fouls by Southampton on Sunderland which didn't bring free kicks let alone cards
I hadn't noticed this till tonight. But I think our win against Southampton might be more important than we thought. Their next two games are away to Leicester and at home to Villa. If losing at SoL has stung them (if they'd won, they'd have overtaken 'Spurs and gone within one point of Liverpool in fifth place) they might easily do us two very big favours there. I hope they're hurting like hell, and win those two games.
Out of curiosity (not seen your match highlights) what did you create besides the two penalties? When I last watched you in your derby I think it was, it seemed you were struggling to create clear cut chances, has that improved since then? The result you got was great by the way, congrats. 8-0 a distant memory when you turn them over in the reverse fixture.
Didn't see the game but when I saw highlights not sure what everyone was moaning about the 2nd pen, was a pen all day long. We hadn't given a pen away all season before Saturday so just one of those days. To be honest I had this marked down as a defeat ever since we trounced you at our place, knowing by the time that you would need the points. Was a massive win for you lot, given other results, long way to go though, gonna be nervous for all of you down there, I sure as hell don't miss that.
this is what has annoyed me all season with refs, there is no consistency with in the games, if you give a foul for something or even a card you have set a precident for that game, so stick to it!!
But if you're Lee Cattermole it's a yellow card for 70% of fouls - Kicking players in the head when one v one and tripping an attacking player who';s running into the box is only a free kick for Sunderland! But against - you can guarantee it's a card!!
yup i was shocked at no card for the first pen, and for catts, he seems to have accepted that hes going to get a yellow if he deserves one or not anymore
Fonte should have been carded for that and again a few minutes later when one of our forwards was going through and he took him out on the edge of the box
If he gets booked again that's his season up! 3 match ban for 15 yellows - and I reckon 10 of them weren't yellows for most players in the PL. Meyler's challenge yesterday was dangerous - got the ball but stright through the man as well and it wasn;t even a foul - far worse than what Cattermole got booked for on Saturday! Sick of saying it now though
No it weas the ten card thing mate - 15 cards before the end of the season is a 3 game ban definitely mate CAUTIONS CUT OFF DATES (Inclusive) 5 31 December (Premier League only) 5 30 November (FL to Step 4 only) 10 2nd Sunday in April 15 End of Season For example, a Premier League player earning their fifth caution of the season on or after 1st January would not earn any ban. However, if they received ten cautions by the second Sunday in April, a ban would apply. Players who receive 20 or more cautions in a season shall be required to attend a Regulatory Commission. He dove in Kn*b He*d, does it time and time again and is ineffective once booked. Not sh*te, its a fact.
Bullshit - guess you didn;t go to the game "knob head" it was never a booking in a million years for anyone other than Cattermole - their player writher in agony until Danny Graham walked over and called him a cheat to which he jumped straight up and got in Graham's face. Cattermole was just as good after his yellow as he was before it - probably our second best player on the day. Is it no possible to pass a ball when you're on a yellow or are you another of these idiots that think all he can do is tackle?
Care to read my post above where I have actually admitted I mis-counted - wind your neck in arsehole - make yourself look like an idiot
