For me this is Redders quote of year. "I don't change the rules for different players, it's the same" http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/05...with-leeds-goalkeeper-marco-silvestri/205524/ Another Redders interview in regards to finishing 15th. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/05...-reflects-on-leeds-finishing-position/205511/
To be fair, when we were 20th at the end of December, I would've taken 21st at the end of the season all day long. Redders needs to shoulder some of the blame for us being 20th in the first place, but he kept us up. It may be indicative of how far we've fallen but I'd take survival all day long. Anyone who thought play offs were realistic after the first two months of the season needs their head examining. We could've had a management team of Fergie, Mourinho and Ancelotti and we wouldn't've reached the play offs - the squad is too poor, simple as that. Redfearn's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but anyone placing the blame solely on him should get their head checked. The squad (overall) is dreadful.
I agree, can't see an ex princess, a foreign manager and one of Arthurs dead knights being good for us.........just wouldn't work. I'm off to get my head checked........
Redders has simply done nothing other than show he is out of his depth in the main job, and he needs to return to the Academy if his ego doesn't get in the way Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
But his ego has got in the way, Billy. Look at his team selections since we were safe from relegation. Did you see any preparations for next season (running out kids, loanees etc.), or did you see someone play safe to protect his CV?
The difference is, they have a squad of decent players. How many of our squad would even get on their bench?
As fans, it's annoying that he didn't give some of the younger players/loanees a few games to see what they have at the end of the season, I grant you. I don't think sticking with the same players is his ego getting in the way though. He had that £50k bonus in his mind (anyone castigating him for wanting that is an idiot, each and every one of us would be going for it if we were in charge) and he has his career to think about. I know as fans we like to think that managers and players will show us undying loyalty and will always put the club's interests first, but why should Redfearn? He knows he's probably not going to be kept on. A good CV/win ratio will help him get another job. That's not necessarily ego, that's him putting his career first - players do it all the time. In fact, people in any walk of life do it all the time. I'm as annoyed as you are that I didn't really get to see Montenegro properly. I expected Dawson to make more of a breakthrough, and I wanted to see the other academy products (Coyle, Walters, Purver etc) have a game at the end of the year. I wanted N'Goyi to start more than that single game after returning to fitness. As a fan, it is infuriating. But any other manager in Redfearn's position would be doing the same thing. He (almost certainly) won't be here next season - why should he feel obliged to try out players? Anyway, given Cellino's reputation for firing managers, I wouldn't expect to see many managers experimenting or trying out fringe players any time soon.
I don't see how losin 5 of the last 7, and scoring less points in the last ten than millwall will look good on his cv! It hink he should have tried different formations, instaed of the negative 451 with morison upfront,2 goals all year!! He seems a decent bloke, but I don't think he's the way forward,we need someone more positive, but I would like him to go back to the acadamey,he seems good in that role.
Evening one and all. As it happens I do think egos on both sides of the fence are damaging this club. Cellino seems hell bent on proving his way will get us promoted. Redfearn it would appear wants to show how clever he is by showing how his 'academy boys' will get us promoted (all thanks to him finding/ developing them), best exampled by Aidy White. Someone tell me what he has done since a year injured that warranted a subs place and game time other than being a home product? Brian Montengro must be wondering what more he can do to get a chance. He plays without complaint for the U21s, scored a few including a hat trick, can play on the wing but is being kept out by a centre half at right back , a right back on the wing, a left back at left wing and the right back at left back (follow that if you're as BH pissed as me at the moment). Whilst I thi the 'injured six' have been totally unprofessional, it does suggest Redfearn is very poor at man management. As someone else suggested, a manager / coach needs to convince all in the squad have or might have an integral part to play in the season. Both Cellino and Redfearn needs to put the club and the supporters first.
Esta. We're all in danger of over hyping the kids. All real prospects (and I mea real) but will they really be good enough next season to bridge the gap to the playoffs let alone auto. Glory is right we need better players. I've said before, Leeds fans (it's why we're the best) are too damn loyal to them. I've read numerous articles about Rudolph Austin, has he made us progress in any way since he joined?? Sorry but we need better
Totally agree, Austin just isn't good enough, can't shoot, control the ball or pass to a team mate All he brings is a scowl
Tad harsh I know just totally ****ed off with **** players playing for Leeds and continually getting picked He's needs to go, and so do Morison and White
Agreed his shooting leaves a lot to be desired, but he most certainly can control the ball, and the stats will tell you that he's one of the best passers in the team. It's a complete fabrication that he can't pass. He also puts the fear of God into the opposition when he goes looking for the ball. I have seen grown men **** themselves and completely lose the place when he bears down on them. Only Murphy comes close in that department. He will be a big loss.
To be fair, he does score the occasional worldie. Just a shame the other 99% are wildly off target I'd keep him in the squad for similar reasons: when he starts running with the ball, he's very difficult to stop, and as you say, when he goes looking for it he's terrifying. Technically he does leave a lot to be desired but for his energy levels alone he's worth retaining at least another year.
