Promoted to the Championship. One team I resent having any success at all. Lets hope its a short visit.
You resent a club that's nothing to do with you in a place you'd struggle to point to on a map, that was born of two clubs with **** all to do with you. Maybe try some perspective and read the Rio wife thread and the young dad from Hull one.
MK Dons are the biggest shame in association football. As a new city they couldn't have just started their own club could they? All they had to do was what AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester have done. Start at the bottom and go from there. But no, not Milton Keynes. They decided to steal a team. MK Dons are a politicians team and can **** off as far as I'm concerned. I hope you're listening, Darren Gough.
I hate all that buying a team crap as well. The idea comes from America where it makes a joke of professional sports and it's why college leagues are so popular there.
If clueless whoppers like chazz and happy clapper on here had their way it could well be MK Dongs v Hull T***rs next season in what would be the biggest tinpot game ever seen in English football. Could you imagine the humiliation and ridicule? We'd be just as detested as they are. Allam Out.
Watching FLS, they were all going mental in the stands in the last few.minutes but who are they? Did a load of Wimbledon fans just go along with it and relocate or are they all locals who started going since 2004? How can you have any passion for a club that was just nicked from elsewhere?
College leagues are popular there because they are local whereas there are only one or two major teams per state, sometimes none. It would be like everyone in the UK supporting Chelsea, imagine being from Aberdeen and your nearest team plays in London, you just wouldn't go. Hence the popularity of college sport where each town has their own team to support.
Did we get 23k+ gates in 2004? Of course they're locals, who else is going to support them ffs. How long do they have to support a team before you consider them worthy of being called proper fans? What is it about MK Dons that bothers you lot? Huge stadium? Local fans who all get on? If it's the name thing, its just a smoke screen. MK is big enough for a team at the top tiers, Wimbledon quite clearly isn't. The name thing was handled badly at the beginning, but they've pretty much evolved into their own club now, and have invested, and played and worked hard to get where they are. Of course you ****s sneer at that. After reading about it online.
That is part of the reason but there are areas with pro clubs where the college teams still get larger crowds than them. The largest stadiums are all college ones. Even local soccer games at school level get large crowds. I know someone who coached in Ohio and was amazed when he arrived to find that a ground that held over 20,000 was used for some uni games. Local school games between junior or high schools got up to 12,000.
Not surprised you don't see it as you are one of the few people on here unconcerned by a club losing its identity.
Not sure where all this is coming from? Im very much for them, if they took over from Wimbledon and were not good enough to compete, they wouldn't be where they are now, just because they didn't start at the bottom doesn't mean anything. Its an extremely good stadium and the support shows that it was a success, consistently competing at the top of League 1 for years now, so about time they made the step up. For whoever asked if they are ex-Wimbledon fans ... no, not a chance, these are all local fans. Wimbledon fans are the only supporters who should have any beef about MK Dons, as overhyped as their cup match was, that atmosphere looked electric on the telly.
There were already clubs in Milton Keynes, such as Milton Keynes City. The local football fans would get more respect if they supported a local team. http://mkcityfc.com
I'm ashamed to say we have a fair few small minded parochial posters on here, who just like to post angry stuff online about things they know nowt about. Fact is, as you say, great stadium, massive investment locally in the club, they have their own identity and more and more locals are supporting them, which is taking fans away from the likes of Arsenal etc, which can only be a good thing. The locals are proud of their team, and why shouldn't they be? None of what happened years ago affects anyone on here, at all. It never did. The predicted collapse of the leagues, and teams moving every week never happened, and won't. If I'm wrong and anyone has been personally affected by it, please, let me know and I'll apologise to you. They ditched the Wimbledon baggage years ago, except in the mind of some who are hard of thinking. Christ, some even sneer at the new town tag without actually having ever been near the place. Yes I like MK, the city, its a well thought out mix of old and new. History is what you make it, and it has old history intermingled with more recent history, but I suspect that will whoosh some on here.
I can't believe you have the gall to continue posting on this thread, Happy, after the disgrace of your first post. I know you won't be ashamed of what you wrote - but you damn well should be.
