    Good morning folks,
So we finished 11th in the table. What are your thoughts on this? I know many have already expressed their discontent and vented their anger here about Russell Slade and his management style.
For me I am surprised we finished as high as 11th, I expected us to be much lower in the table.
Does this change my opinion of Slade? Not one bit.
He began his tenure saying we would be pushing for promotion and then a play off place as results did not go as he thought. It has been a downward spiral all season, with the odd run of results lifting us on occasion, and ultimately us finishing in mid table mediocrity.
I can hardly comment on the way we have played, but having seen the 'highlights" it seems we were lacking imagination, drive, enthusiasm and the team spirit didn't seem to be there. I am sure you will put me right if I am wrong in my view. :)
What would you like to see in the close season and what do you think will be the reality?

Add lack pace , creativity and inability to hold the ball and you are pretty much spot on.

Sorry Russ but all I want is a change of manager.

My bet is he stay s and our better players like Marshall and Manga along with anyone else we get a decent offer for get sold and cheap players brought in.

Im all set for the Ashes now glad the football is over. .

Yes we finished 11th in the table, but we are 28 points behind Bournemouth, and 16 points and 23 goals away from a play off place.

How does Slade think that this is a good finish?

Think this says more about the quality of the teams around us than the brilliance of City's football. Feel this will be a wasted summer when Slade gets sacked after a poor start to next season and another year rebuilding under somebody else. However, watched the highlights for yesterdays game. Shows they can play some pretty stuff when there's bugger all riding on it.

It's only an opinion, but apart from relegation this finish is the worst thing that could have happened. I'd have rather us have limped over the line and just retain Championship status like Rotherham than to take some sort of comfort from Slade's management skills.

A mid table finish gives Slade and those at the club who brought him here something to hang their hats on as justification for appointing him. Despite the positive noises being made by Slade, I can only see us being another also ran next season with him at the helm. 11th place seems OK on the face of it given what could have happened, but I don't want another season of watching **** like this year, and I can see it coming.

It seems unimaginable that Slade will not be given the chance to start next season as manager - I just hope he's ejected in the same way that Ole was after just 7 games if it doesn't happen for us. Unless Tan is planning a tactical withdrawal, I can see no excuse for giving him any more leeway than that.

I also feel Slade will stay and as stated before we will probably start the season with a weaker overall squad than we have right now.

Tan needs to decide what he wants from this venture.

Don't know if Tan is ploughing his own furrow or is just getting poor footballing guidance from elsewhere. Either way, he needs to steer the ship inn a different direction. A number of teams have shown what can be done on a tight budget with 'ordinary players', BUT with a clear footballing ethos and style and players that fit that style. We are sadly lacking in that area.

We need a manager who will put his stamp on how he wants the game played and get the players to fit that model. It doesn't need to break the bank, just grafters who fit the style.

Agree 100% with all said here.

Tan will probably se we won our last 2 matches and think that is a launching pad for Slade to take us to the title.

He has to be reminded of the pitiful displays not so long ago versus eg Bolton and Mlilwall at home and that the last 2 wins were irrelevant.

Mid table mediocrity and dull as dishwater football next season with this bloke at the helm.

Get Warburton in before he is snapped up by a competitor.

You could argue that Big Ben is being diplomatic as he'll be here next season, whereas the ones that have left wont be.

I doubt that any of the players sticking around if asked wouldn't have said similar things about Slade, but maybe not gone as far as seeming to criticise players no longer with us.

Which player who wants a game next season would have said Slade is crap?

Terry Butcher has taken over at Newport. Quite a coup for County.

Would he have been a good alternative to Mr. Slade?

There are quite a few in Swansea who would like to see him return to The Liberty.

Really I thought he was by far the worse manger you've had of recent times.

I hope Butcher works for Newport but he hardly has a track record to inspire apart from his time at Inverness.

But that is Vetch taking the pi$$ as usual.

And I can't believe Swans fans would prefer Sousa to Monk, who from my perspective looks to be doing a good job. 8/9th in the Prem is very good going especially having sold their main striker - for top dollar.

It's really quite impossible to post ANYTHING on here, which is why it has become such a graveyard.

My Butcher comment was NOT TAKING THE PISS,(although I could have a field day were I so inclined). <laugh>
He is experienced;has a playing pedigree, and as such, would have some useful connections in the game.
If you cannot understand that, you may well have a problem.

Oh,and not everyone is enamoured with Monk.

Enjoy the wasteland that this Forum has become. <ok>

Have a look at how the Geordies have done since forcing out a good and seriously underrated manger. Fans who want rid of Monk should be incredibly careful what they wish for.
