Correct me if im wrong but I don't think sky have put a game on at our ground against Newcastle since the fighting that happened after the 2-1 win? So we could also thank the idiots for this.
The only interest I have with TV football is when they change the time and date of Sunderland games at short notice which makes it difficult for me to get time off work.
ESPN have announced their first 10 games, and we dont feature on any of them either between SKY (39 games) and ESPN (10) we feature once, only other team to feature once is Wigan ............ says it all really about how they think of us !!
Its probably because at the start of the season we usually play well and beat the bigger teams, they will have us on after January as they are hoping their Blue Eyed teams can hammer us. (as we go on pitiful runs)
Who cares get to the live game it's a lot better than listening to some biased numpty saying how crap we are even when we are winning.
Can't quite see what all the upset is about. As Bill says any game is available on the internet, or probably down your local (just ask Quinny). And 3pm Saturday kick-offs to look forward to! Lets get a couple of good cup runs going and earn some TV time!
Well i cant really find anything on this so correct me if i am wrong, but the PL clubs get an equal split of the cash at the start of the season for TV Rights, 31.7 million ish last year, but surely they must get money for individual games as well. This is the only thing i can really find on it so they made about 14 million from the individual live TV appearances. So looking at that the more you are on TV the more cash you can get, and there is advertising as well, pretty sure clubs can say instead of £10,000 a board, if its on TV its £30,000 a board (especially on the opposite side from the TV cameras).
Well, why would they care about any of us? We're the North East. We're very far away from pretty much every other EPL team and in our own little area. Apart from Sunderland and Newcastle fans, no one else really gives much of a crap about us. This is very different to the groups of teams which have a shared interest for a lot more people. Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd and Man City are all grouped together down in the west, then you have all of the top teams bunched together around London, with a few more dotted around the midlands and down south. We're on our todd.
They aren't EPL teams, and their respective audiences are minuscule compared to ours. You could group together the North East based audience of Sunderland, Newcastle, Boro, Hartlepool and so on. Or you could group together the London based audience of Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham, Fulham and so on. The vast majority of the Sky footballing audience have many local teams in the South and the midlands which they're more interested in. The North East is unfortunately very isolated.
This is what we got last year, so obviosuly they have to pick and choose carefully, but the derby should be a shoe in really, unless its the time, and they cant do it at noon.
Sky have announced that have have no plans to show the London Derby between West Ham United v Milwall. But BBC have revealed there will be extensive coverage later in the day during Crimewatch UK.
Not really as when you read Quinn's quote he stated that he doesn't mind the ones being shown on Sky and ESPN as we receive a payment from these respective companies - I heard that the guy who organises the Sky Live games and schedule is a former NUFC season ticket holder - it was stated by someone on 606 last year I think although I don't know how reliable that is. I've written to sky to explain my disgust at the amount of our games being shown.
I've posted this previously regarding the breakdown of monies, but here it is again. please log in to view this image
