Wow.....even by your standards Swords, that post is very condescending, Son.

    1. I do not get involved in the Sky hype of PL football. I do not have a sky subscription (and never have done) and I am not a bar stooler who goes to the local every time there is a match I want to see. At least 50% of the football I watch is in person, ie. I get on a plane and go to the ground.

    2. As above, I do not pay money to watch any level of football apart from the entrance fee I pay to watch my team in person.

    3. I would be delighted if we stayed up but that doesn't take away from the fact that I and many others have stated that there has only been a handful of enjoyable games to attend.

    4. The elevator does go all the way to the top, thanks very much.

Your opinions on this subject are typical of the Irish bar stool supporter who can't get enough of MOTD and Super Sunday/Monday night football on sky. Try getting your arse into a ground to support a team and people might take your views more seriously.

Sorry Swords, it's Sky and the big Premier League clubs who have created this notion of "you're nobody unless you're in the Premier League". It's where your club achieve their ultimate goal. This is just B*llocks.

Sadly the likes of Tony have been drawn in to this fantasy world and they have been culpable to dreaming and trying to realise their fantasy. In the process they have taken our club downwards.

Ask yourself would you be content with a £10 million mansion knowing you couldn't fully occupy and enjoy it but you could afford it or occupying a £500,000 house where you are happy and living within your means. The same philosophy applies to Tony and all other wealthy club owners.

    1. Fingy you're the one who said the PL hype is part of the turn off for you. Now you say you never watch Sky or never watch QPR on Sky. How then can you even be aware of the hype you're complaining about?

    2. As above, how can the hype be affecting you then?

    3. The games are far more enjoyable to me. We've pushed the top teams all the way this season. Chelsea 1-2 (a), Chelsea 0-1 (h), Man Utd 0-2 (h: last minute goal on the break flattered them), L'pool 2-3 (h), Spurs 1-2 (h), Arsenal 1-2 (a), Arsenal 1-2 (h), Man City 2-2 (h). We were unlucky not to get results in some of those. If you'd prefer to see us scraping a draw at Rotherham or beating Huddersfield then fair enough but its not what works for a lot of people. Besides, are you telling me that you enjoyed many matches in the Ch'ship last season? The football was worse and was against worse teams!

    4. Glad to hear it :)

At times Swords you are so tedious. I know I shouldn't feed the troll but in an attempt to put this one to bed............................

    1. I have Sky Sports News (SSN) and BBC1 (Match of the Day) as part of my UPC TV package. I see enough on SSN to know they are hyping the PL up. Also, I have watched the occasional match in a pub. Not many, but enough to know Sky are hyping everything to get subscriptions.

    2. The hype doesn't affect me but I know it exists.

    3. I was at Old Trafford when we lost 0-4 back in September. To hear their tourist fans singing "going down, going down" etc made me sick to the stomach. There are less tourists at the Eiffel Tower than there are at Old Trafford and I can tell you, if their team ever went down, they would all disappear so quick. I don't get my kicks watching us play the top 5 or 6 teams. I get my kicks watching us play ALL teams no matter who they are. I would rather scrape a draw to Rotherham than watch us lose narrowly to Arsenal for example. The football last year was mostly poor quality but we were nearly always in and around the play offs so the prospect of getting promoted was always there making it more enjoyable. This is our Third year in the PL in 4 years and I can probably point to half a dozen enjoyable games.

    4. I'm glad, you're glad.

Fair enough Fingy. You've argued your points ever so well.

We'll have to agree to disagree my friend :emoticon-0150-hands

I think that there is two acceptable sides in both camps from what has been posted on this thread. Both Sword's and Fingy make good points ( as well as others ).. but let me ask you this. Do we think that ( more than likely ) if we go down that if the Championship is such a good league we should hope to stay there?

Do we not dream of returning to the Premier League at the first attempt?

Are Bournemouth fans at this moment in time, cursing their misfortune of gaining automatic promotion and leaving this wonderful league?

Will the four teams and their fans that compete in the play-offs hope that they remain in the Championship?

    No answer needed.

I believe that the psychological reality to facing the Championship again is a logical and realistic response to the inevitable. It's the bridesmaid/bride kinda thing.
The same logic for Championship football will not be applied if we have a double dip and slip again into league 1 however. ( It's even more realistic football down there! )

The Premier League for all it's *faults* ( see below), is still the place to be. I know that it hurts when we go down and we all try to make sense and excuses for it but it is still every single English clubs holy grail. It's the place where your dreams hope to take an unlikely scalp and pit your wits against a behemoth of a corporation club and bring them crashing back down to earth.

None of the the Championship clubs actually want to be there. They all aspire to have the fortune of moving upwards given the opportunity or fortune.

The Championship is a home borne out of necessity, but only a temporary one. We hope.

I fear this is true, sadly though, we may be heading for League One rather than the PL this time. TF won't be able to spend his way out of this one this time and the inevitable fire sale of our 'best' players (is that an oxymoron?) will leave us in a worse state than Fulham last season...

Obviously Tony still feels we have a chance - pure marketing spin doctoring BS - He has lost the plot and what we are to face with a fine and the Championship could well be a very troubling period in the history of our club ( and there have already been many of those times before)

After the West Ham draw on Saturday on Twitter

"Tough day. Deserved a win. But how many times have I said that. All that matters is table. still supremely confident that we will stay up"

I'm a little disturbed when I hear people say that the championship is our rightful place.
I certainly haven't enjoyed the majority of our games in the premier league, although staying up with that late Cisse goal was a fantastic moment.
I just feel that we must always strive to play at the highest level possible and never, ever accept that we're not good enough to better ourselves.
At least if we are a yo yo side our seasons will always be exciting.

Yes but there's a difference between doing it sensibly and doing it stupidly. No one here would argue against having an ultimate dream about being the best team in the world but throwing money naïvely at it and trying to get there tomorrow is the wrong way.

Also... my reason for supporting the club is not to have glory. It's to support the club and enjoy going no matter what because the club is a historic part of my local community. That's why I support. I wouldn't complain if we were forever in the championship, as long as the people who represent the club at all levels were people to be proud of, players, managers and owners all included.

But the EPL is nonsense anyway. I'm anti-runaway capitalist. I think football is being ruined from the top down. Is it so foolish for me to not want QPR to be a part of that, even at the cost of not getting to the top of English football? I'd rather my beloved club stays away from all that no matter what. But that's just my view. I wish things were different in the world of football and the world in general!

I think the reality is a club of our size may never really enjoy the Premiership. at best we get mid table mediocrity or fighting relegation. I enjoyed the championship as we were winning, simple as. The trouble is we all love to dream of the big time and thats fine but nothing beats that feeling of excitement of walking into the stadium whatever league we are in

Anyone who thinks the people who have come in to our club over the last seven years have had some honourable dream to make our Shepherds Bush end of London a place of glory for the people needs to rethink their whole views on life. The dream was and still is that they can turn our club into a profitable money making machine and brand like some other global brand club names. That's their interest. They can enjoy the glory and playboy life along the way and get a kick out of us chanting their names. But they see the club as a moneymaking cow, just in the same way that football has been used as a moneymaking cow to milk.

Honestly, I want to know what all your thoughts are on that? Or am I a blasphemist for speaking this way about our owners?

I'm trying to work out the nature of your problem. Is it a moral/ ethical objection? Is it economic? Is it political? Is it personal, only relevant to QPRs current owners? Would it exist if we were 12th in the PL and safe?

    It's blasphemer by the way.

No, it's an issue that I have with the owners regardless of where we are in the league. And yes, it applies to previous owners too. Bernie was one of the worst.
