I think PLT has given Aluko such flak this season that he refuses to acknowledge anything good he does. I'm a fan of his but will happily admit when he plays badly, which he has often this season. I thought Turner was **** at first but was happy to be proved wrong. Likewise with Bruce (Jnr). Aluko is clearly a talented player, prior to his injury in the Championship he was exceptional. Likewise when we first came up, before his injury at Everton. Since returning, he's struggled to impact games in the same way but I find it bizarre how many people wrote him off and am glad he's starting to show his class again.
I assume that's the clip in the corner. Can't watch it now but I've seen it before. It's brilliant skill and entertaining but what did he achieve? He lost the ball! The cross to N'Doye early on was less impressive looking but better in terms of creating a scoring chance. He needs to get past players and open up space to shoot or create. That was one of his many nearly moments. I'm not saying he was bad, it was one of his best performances since before his first injury. In fact I said after Palace he looked really good from the highlights where he created N'Doye's first goal with a lovely defence-splitting ball. But on Tuesday night I really think his fancy looking skill made people think he was better than he actually was. Elmo created more chances than him and got the assist which basically won us the game. Aluko needs to produce like that.
