Gyan has not come back to pre-season yet because of international duty at the end of last season. Not due back till next week. So don't read anything into that.
No it isn't strange that Gyan is not back yet. He is not due to return until next week. Certain players who had international call ups at the end of last season were given an extra weeks break.
What about Defoe, Hutton Keane for Gyan or Defoe, Keane, Bentley for Gyan? Personally im not interested in Gyan, i would ratyher we pushed the boat out and signed Rossi or Llorente to play with Van der Vaart, and then brought in Leandro as back up. How happy are you guys with your signings so far, and if the transfer window shut today where do you reckon your squad is capable of finishing in the league ?
you can keep Keane. bently not sure about, think i would prefer Dos Santos though Defoe and Hutton I would have, but not at the expense of Gyan. So basically you cant have Gyan, but i would have Defoe, Hutton, Dos Santos from you. And i think we would do OK, not top 4 and maybe not even top 6, but top 7-9 with an injury free(ish) season.
Think we've done well, but we do still need a striker and a left mid, or the good work may be in vain. We've added quality, but may still be a bit narrow, depending on the system he plays. I think Llorente would be a horror buy for Spurs, he's a phenomenal player, but he slows the game down a lot, and bursts of speed are Spurs strength. Rossi could be dynamite though, he does all the things Defoe does, but is a better 'in the box' finisher, and quick. £30million plus asking price is way too much though.
But one thing we have to face is the truth, Gyan is not wanted or needed by a top 4/5 side....... So unless it's a foreign team, he is not worth as much as we think. Hence why he will probably be going no-where.
We bought Gyan for £13m 12 months ago. He scored 10 EPL goals in his debut season. He has 3 years left of a 4 year contract. He is a talisman and a national hero. He is a good footballer and a great personality. He isnt for sale? We dont need to sell? However, every player has a price and Gyans is a circa £25m opening bid one. Simples.
spurs want to be ( back in the champions league) Defoe is not good enough i'm afraid. Actually he's not good enough for us either. We also want to eventually play in the Champions league. [Obviously not this season] but if we sell our best players to teams we believe we can eventually match we can forget it. Anyway the price quoted as being offered for Gyan is an insult, he's worth considerably more than the spuds can afford at the moment. Defoe is intensly disliked by Sunderlland fans because of the foul on Craig Gordon.
