It could be one of many reasons. Lots of speculation about why the deal is not done yet. With Ferrari's resurgence, McLaren possibly going to be strong once they sort out their issues, I could see why Lewis would now want no.1 status for the future as both those teams will almost certainly have their no.1 drivers, so Merc could lose out if their drivers take points off each other.
Why would you want No.1 status in team where you are beating your teammate to a pulp? Hamilton has never given the impression that he wants to be a favorite in a team. He always talks about wanting to beat the best in equal machinery to prove how good he is. That's why he was moaning about it being a waste about Alonso not being in a car to compete at the front. Maybe Ferrari is talking to him to try and convince him that maybe they will have the car to beat next season and he could be one of the few drivers to win three championships in three different teams...who knows. It's worth a look and if the pricemis right then ....
This would seem most likely. Opens the door to a drive at Ferrari and/or back at McLaren should they sort themselves out. I hope he goes back to McLaren one day. I'm a Hamilton fan but I just do not hold any affinity with Mercedes - I just don't particularly like them - like their cars. I like the British teams like McLaren and Williams and hopefully they can both be competitive soon with British drivers.
This is a slow week but what do you this is this statement by Rosberg? I hope he isn't getting dangerous. I said in an earlier post that I was a bit worried when he passed vettel just at the exit of the pit lane. It looked a bit dangerous with his team mate just exiting the pit lane. Now he is saying that he didn't know how far ahead of him his team mate was but he didn't care. He said he really wasn't sure if he was far enough but this time he didn't care....interesting!!! I think we will soon see some real fireworks that could put Ferrari at the front. What do you think? The German had accused his Mercedes teammate of driving too slowly and compromising his strategy whilst leading the Shanghai race. But a week later in Bahrain, Rosberg appeared to have changed tack by driving a notably aggressive race, including a daring move on Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. “It was very close, but I took a chance,” said the 29-year-old, who also overtook Vettel in the championship standings after Bahrain and now stands 27 points behind only Hamilton. please log in to view this image Rosberg was referring to when he passed Vettel at the first corner, despite the fact that the sister silver car driven by Hamilton was not far ahead of the battle. “I was not sure if Lewis was really far enough ahead of me, but this time I didn’t care,” Rosberg told Auto Bild. Rosberg’s more aggressive driving in Bahrain was hailed by Mercedes chiefs, amid the wider perception that he is the ‘thinker’ in the team versus Hamilton’s killer instinct. And, referring to his championship fight with Hamilton and his lauded racing in Bahrain, Rosberg insists: “Nothing is lost yet. Perhaps I just need to think less in the future.”
I did think Rosberg drove a much more aggressive race in Bahrain. I think his words are intended to make Hamilton think twice if/when they get close. Lately Rosberg has been was to submissive so he is just sending a little warning to everyone to be aware he 'doesn't care' when he is overtaking His aggression did make the race better hope it continues. The more fighting for positions the better
Well it could either be 1. I don't care I came second, or 2. The more sinister "I don't care who is ahead of me from now on".
He still needs to improve his race pace though. Everyone talks about this new aggressive Nico Rosberg but he still lacks consistent long run pace that can challenge for victory. This might sound strange but in a way I hope he gets pole in Barcelona just to see how good he really is in race conditions and controlling the race, because at the moment he hasn't shown that he's improved from last year. If he gets beaten again by Hamilton then I can see another desperate and controversial move coming soon.
Or he is just playfully flipping his mic As you said above he can be as aggressive as he wants, Nico just hasn't been able to even get a sniff of #44 this season. At least last year he was putting up a challenge.
