Best team defensive display for a long time. Dawson Aluko (never thought I'd say that in the Premiership) Brady/Chester - just couldn't separate them. Special night with Elmo and Quinn serious contenders for the list. Also aree re: Thudd, seems to have his mojo back. Despite the pocket dippers being poor things seem to be pointing North again and I can't see us not picking up another 2 or 3 points in our remaining matches
Aluko......superb ball control...took three Liverpool defenders to mark him. Dawson....awesome Dawson Harper....totally confident in his saving, handling and distribution
Harper should be in everyone's selection of 3. His save from Henderson's volley in the second half was as important as a goal. A simply brilliant save, one of 4 or 5 crucial saves he made on the night. 1) Harper 2) Dawson - Goal and a proper captains performance. 3) Aluko
Terrific performances across the board (again!). A very difficult choice but I'll go with:- Dawson Chester Harper. Pretty random choices though - very hard on Quinn, Aluko, N'Doye, Brady etc. Some superb interpassing between Quinn and Brady down the left. Officials were generally very poor and the linesman in front of the West stand really does need to get new glasse.
I'm interested in @TigerRoo's view of Aluko. Were those brilliant crosses he was whipping in misplaced shots??
Chester - had Sterling in his pocket Dawson - great goal, organised the defence throughout Livermore - controversial, i know, but he never stopped running and closing down, gave everything.
Brady was immense going forward and defending, MOTM for me and the imperious Chester deserves an honourable mention, the lads barely had any football and can produce defending like that!
1. Harper - for me all of the outfield players look more confident with him between the sticks, with good reason. I have grave doubts whether McGregor would have saved either the Coutinho effort or the Ballotelli back heel, contentious I know but McGregor just makes me far too nervous, and if he'd played I just don't see us getting all three points. 2. Dawson - obviously scored the crucial goal but was a giant in defence as usual. 3. Chezzy - total class personified, and his return has sparked an upturn in our fortunes.
