Just read he wants to leave as "he thought he had a verbal agreement that if a big club bid for him he would be allowed to consider leaving".......

Wasn't this the same little s**t the TOON showed around St. James Park..........

It gets better...........as this is what he said when Spurs gave him a SIX year contract extension......

On 30 May 2010, Modrić was awarded with a new six-year contract, that runs until 2016. Modrić said after the deal; "Tottenham Hotspur gave me my chance in the Premier League and I want to go on to achieve great success here with them. Yes, there have been enquiries from other big clubs, but I have no interest in going anywhere. Last season's Top 4 finish was an indication of where we are as a Club and I feel I can continue to improve and go on to achieve everything I want to at Spurs"

Pass the sick bucket......................but it could so easily have been the TOON having to deal with this rubbish.

So? we would have had one of the prems best and made 20 mil profit. Cant blame him for wanting to win things and play champs league footy

Sorry but that is a pathetic approach to building a team............and the original cash would have stopped the TOON buying other players. Spurs were in CL last year, so when the going gets "tough".........ie, they don't qualify he buggers off!

Also............. strangely he's a very low goal scorer.............bloody Nolan scored more! LOL

Hope Levy sticks to his guns and sits him in the stands if he refuses to put in the effort and takes the hump .. wouldn't do Spurs any good, but would be a rare stand of principle in todays world of watery (non) contracts and player power ..

its nice to see spurs in this position for a change , instead of happy arry tapping up and un-settling other teams players

Its a similar situation to us with enrique however he has a 5/6 year contract and our chap can leave in 12 months.

Unfortunately players have the power and under working rules and regs they have a right to leave if they want. But would have to buy out the contract. Realistically could enrique demand a transfer provided the new suitor paid for his wages for the last year of his contract?

Is this why we are offering players 5 year contracts.

If every player who thought they were entitled to Champions League football forced themselves out of their home club, where would they go? I hate Spurs, but they did demonstrate just a year ago they could qualify for CL, so their players should man-up and demonstrate competitiveness (that I expect from athletes) and try and recreate their success -- not just jump ship for the next best team. This applies to every player from decent clubs who think they're owed the right to take the easy route to playing weeknight games in Europe.

See, even some of the EPL's biggest clubs have player troubles. Even Man City with Tevez.

Some of them are just never happy.

the season before modric played great and spuds got into the champions league.
last season he wasnt so great and they didnt qualify.
result - he now wants to leave despite his performances being part of the problem, so apparently players can have their cake and eat it.

by the way its the quietest appy arry has been for ages - so long may this roll on :emoticon-0100-smile

It seems rare these days to find players with a REAL commitment to taking a club to the next level. One sign of them faltering and they jump ship.

He only wanted to stay at Spurs when they were in the CL. He's now seen that he won't get that there, so wants to go somewhere where he will.

99% of players would do the same in his position.

This is common sense, too few players refuse to accept that they also have a role in the success or lack of it as the case may be of any club. Sure they may want CL football, whether or not they've earned it is another matter.

He wouldn't have cost that much if we had bought him, and you wouldn't need to buy another midfielder anyway.
Also the fact that he doesn't score many goals doesn't matter, as that isn't what he's in the team to do <ok>
