Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley has brought forward a fan forum meeting in order to discuss supporters’ grievances.

After writing a letter to the supporters, Charnley also admitted mistakes have been made at St James’ Park and said that plans were under way to rectify the problems.

United’s Fans Forum - who meet with Charnley and the club’s communication team for regular meetings - had demanded some answers about the club’s view on the boycott, the appointment of John Carver and the recent dropping of Jonas Gutierrez.

Even with Gutierrez now restored to the team fans still want answers from the club and some want to hear directly from Mike Ashley.

However, Ashley has never had any rapport with the Tyneside media and stays out of the limelight. And instead Newcastle have responded by bringing forward the date of the end of season Fan Forum.

A letter from Charnley to forum members read: “In order to discuss the issues you raise, I intend to bring forward the date of our next Fans Forum meeting which was originally scheduled for the end of the season.

“I am sure Forum members past and present will agree that the Club has been open and transparent during all interactions, including meetings and correspondence, and this next meeting will be no different.

“In my opinion, the introduction of the Forum has been productive for all the parties involved and, as we move forward, the Forum will continue to be one of our preferred forms of fan communication and engagement.”

With Newcastle now just five points above the relegation places, Charnley also pleaded for the support of the fans.

With the letter published before the Swansea defeat, he said: “With five games now remaining of the season – including three at St. James’ Park, I would ask you, indeed all supporters, to get fully behind John Carver and the players as they look to finish the season as strongly as possible.

“When St. James’ Park is loud and supportive of the team on the pitch, it does make a huge difference.”

But while Carver is the man on the end of most of the criticism, Charnley said: “We accept mistakes have been made and understand you raise these issues because you want the best for your football club.

“Please be assured we want the same – we want to give you a football club you can be proud of and a team you feel passionate to support.”

    Nope, and dont believe you.

This is desperation from them now, and proof the protests are making a difference.

They really are ****ting themselves now clearly.
Loved the phrase 'open and transparent'.
What an utter pile of Gorilla ****.
The stands were emptier yesterday than at Spurs as people simply can't be arsed with this set of useless ****ers in charge anymore.
We will get beat at Leicester and then the Baggies game will see even less fans turn up.
Onto West Ham and i'd be surprised if the place was even half full.
Virtually everyone I know with a ST isn't going to attend the last 2 games.
I will be though as I'll be making my feelings known inside the ground.
'You fat cockney bastard, get out of our club'.

The club are ****ting it. Charnley and Ashley are running scared. We should keep the protests/ boycott going. The fans forum members need to put the point across that the way that the club is being run is no longer acceptable.

Our finances would be a whole lot healthier if Fatty paid the real price for advertising.

Nope sorry mate but enough is enough - season ticket holder for 27 years and we have been treated by Ashley and Co like sh** and now they want our help. I (and my season ticket holding mates) have drawn a line and will not go back this season. If we stay up hopefully they will have learnt a hard lesson and change the way they treat the fans and run the club however I will happily take relegation and the loss of sky money (reducing the 'Newcastle project' as non viable) if it makes Ashley sell. Would rather he stayed, brought in the best coach we could possibly get, invested the profits Newcastle make back into the squad and tried to build something here. More than happy for him to make a small profit, advertise his company and show everyone how it should be done on and off the pitch. Not impossible, well within his capabilities but never, ever going to happen. This summer (if we stay up) will dictate whether I renew next February or not.
