Pity Allam couldn't be a bit more generous with his own employees and pay them the living wage if he is so altruistic and such a generous benefactor to the city.

 

Not that your post has any point, but out of interest, just how much does he pay his employees and if they don't earn very much comparatively, why don't they go and work elsewhere?

 

I think you'll find he probably does if your reffering to those who work at the KC on match days.

Actually, he doesn't- they get paid minimum wage. Leeds, for example, pay the living wage. There is a campaign for all Premier League clubs, endorsed by the PL, to pay their employees the living wage...we don't. As to the point about 'why don't they work elsewhere?'; I think you'll find many do as soon as they can..in fact, on several occasions this season the club has nearly breached regulations by not having enough stewards in on match days. This has been the case at both City and Hull FC games and has resulted in frantic phone calls to drag people in or relying on agency staff to ensure games can go ahead.

On the catering side they get more than the minimum wage as do the staff on hospitality, not sure how much the stewards get but they have raised a grievance with the SMC over holiday pay, and yes they have had issues with staffing, there's lots of speculation that stewarding might be outsourced.

So what is the point here? Is Assem Allam to be judged by different rules than all other businesses in our society? We live in a capitalist world with an ever thinning layer of social conscience. The laws of demand and supply rule. If he runs his business badly, the inherent inefficiencies will reduce his profitability; if he offers low wages he will get low quality from his workers.

Oh, and the "Living Wage" has no basis in law.

 

Mr Allam is so generous, he thought the 30% price increase last season was still to cheap, so lets bang another 6% on top. Also why not take the concessions away from the disabled. Why not move over 1000 season ticket holders with no consultation to a worse area of the ground and charge them more than people sat at the opposite end. He is so generous he decided to keep the £200K ASI money. I can only assume it is accruing interest so we can all enjoy it more next year. He was so generous bailing the club out that he has almost recouped most of it in interest over the past few years. He is so generous that invited us all to die as soon as we like. He also is so generous he laid a brand new 3G pitch for all of the community to use....o hang on scrap that one. He is so generous he is breaking consumer law by refusing refunds on re-arranged matches, and has now introduced a whole raft of hidden charges on next seasons passes should anyone step out of line. He has generously re applied for the name change we all crave on our behalf again, and kindly taken those confusing words off our badge and just left easy numbers. How lucky we are, I must count my blessings again.

No, just a realist, who's decided enough is enough. Not another penny of my hard earned cash will enter the Allam's coffers. How anyone can even attempt to suggest him staying is in the long term best interest of the club need to as they say "Giv there head a bang"

 

Simple answer is don't go if you don't like what's going on.

Oh of course, that's a reasonable solution for someone who loves the club that they have supported for 46 years.

 

The point was that his generosity is limited. He's the exact opposite with his employees. You can talk about business all you like but the topic being discussed was selfless generosity. Try to stick to it; if you realise you were wrong just admit it.

Two pathetic answers there. He lists a load of reasons why Allam isn't generous and those are the responses. So Strov, Sunbeam, is he wrong? Do you disagree with what he's put there? Is he wrong to conclude from those points that Allam's generosity isn't all it's made out to be? Or are you just desperate to argue back at him even though you've no actual counterpoint to offer?
