Just downloading the last episode of series one of Poldark [haven't watched it yet but don't worry about spoilers as I know the story] and the BBC servers must be creaking because it's coming down the pipe at about a tenth of the usual speed. All those weeping people [I know the episode is bitter-sweet] are keeping a copy for as long as they possibly can [DRM allowing] because it'll be a year before series two comes along. The DVD is certainly going to sell well.
It was astonishingly well done TSS. And I knew what was coming too, but the dynamic between Ross, Demelza, Elizabeth, and George Warleggan was played subtly differently from the original series and the books, and it was very good indeed. I have the whole series recorded on my YouView box so I might just watch it all again one dark night!
Bit of a surprise with George Warleggan declaring himself openly, but the hints have been coming. Anyhow, it was all done very well indeed, and my chin wobbled a bit when Ross and Demelza were distraught over baby Julia, I have to say, and I knew it was coming. I wonder who will end up playing the lovely Caroline Penvenen in the next series..? I'd imagine books 3 [Warleggan] and 4 [Jeremy Poldark] will be covered. The old 70's TV series covered everything up to and including the 7th book within two series. Mind you, there were 29 hour long episodes. Those were the days.

And finally from me, a good news story... Saltdean Lido. A lovely Grade II listed building [you can see why] which the local community has fought over several years to keep and keep open. Had it recorded, but had to rush to watch it before anyone else gave away spoilers. Saw the original series, but forgot most except the mining scenes. They should remake Lorna Doone next.
Just booked to go to China on the way back from Kuwait. Taking a ferry from Shanghai to Japan and spending a couple of weeks there too. Dead excited, never been before. Where's China Saint when you need him?!
Mother in law has just come back and she loved it. She did a river cruise trip - very touristy version. My mate lives out there and married a local and is all China'd up.
It's our 'Lets Have A Crazy Vacation Before We Have A Kid' trip. Kuwait to Beijing, Shanghai and all over Japan then to London and back to Kuwait.
I am a wee bit jealous. Good way of doing it, because once those kids come along, you'll be planning those trips for retirement, unless you own a money tree.
Man, it'll be great to see more of those old names back in racing through their offspring. Could end up with a bit of a closed shop, but still good to see. Love seeing Verstappen doing so well. Makes me realize I am getting old. Or got.
