Was just about to ask obi in another thread, but i know theres quite a few fans here

Enjoy this or what? Cant lie this had me hyped up. Rewatching just now though, its basically just referencing a load of things from the original trilogy, along with up to date stormtroopers and someone who looks very similar to vader.

come to think of it though i suppose thats the point, bring the old trilogy into our minds and do away as much as possible with the prequels (not sure if this is correct, but i swear i read somewhere that jj abrams is practically ignoring the prequels)

still, the best of those big three trailers recently.

yeah man i was like woooooooo when they went past the downed star destroyer, but it seems to be the minimal use of fx that really makes it feel like star wars. Looks very promising.

Seriously excited, but just so worried it will be totally ruined. Trailers look good, but then trailers often do.

I hope if follows some of the sequel books and gets a bit darker, rather than having the feel of a Disney stamp all over it.

Either way, I will be there!

    J. J. Abrams did a decent job with that last couple of StarTrek movies so hopeful these wont be trash.

I think Abrams came out and said he wanted it to be old school. Nothing like the last 3. They have gone back to using actual models and costumes where poss instead of CGI. I am right revved up for this. can't wait.

It'll be decent and far better than the prequels (although Ep III I enjoyed) but people will still be a bit disappointed because a large part of our love of star wars is the nostalgia for our youth, and we aint getting that back.

I have a feeling this will be as good as the originals. Forget the prequels - they are a blip. George Lucas should be shot for those. Likewise for creating those special edition monstrosities. Release the original three movies in their original format ffs.

    So looking forward to this.

As far as i know it some sort of antiquated proto saber, but with the hilt for hand protection. I just started reading up on the design but theres only so nerdy i can get with it. it seems to make sense though

I enjoyed some of part 3 but yeah , definitely agree. Thinking back to to the prequels, and them being before internet use was so prevalent...well they sort of ostracised me straight away with all that trade federation crap or whatever it was, i remember thinking that i had missed something and that maybe i should have been more aware of star wars lore etc..when apparently most people thought it was a load of old bollocks anyway

as for releasing the original cuts, I really dont know what theyre playing at. If they have to constantly reference these updated cuts at least release a dual blu ray with both versions

    Get rid of the following:

    Star Wars

Greedo shooting first....**** off. Han Solo shot first.
Jabba the Hutt talking to Han Solo...the CGI is stupid. Get rid.
The stupid add on extra animals on Tatooine in Star Wars. It looks fake.
The death star explosion. **** off. Restore the original.

    Empire Strikes Back

I understand why they did it, but for **** sake, restore the original emperor hologram.

    Return of the Jedi

    Where to start...

Jabba's Palace - Get rid of that ****ty CGI band and restore the puppets.
The Sarlaac - It looks comic book.
The Death Star Explosion - ****. Restore it.
The jubilant scenes from across several planets. Get ****ing rid. It's annoying and just spoils the film
Anakin Skywalker's ghost - I don't know which ****ing idiot decided to stick Hayden Christenson in, but get rid. The whole point of those ghosts was to show the three Jedi as they were at death. Darth Vader was a 75 year old bloke, not some young kid. If they are going down the road of Anakin pre Vader then surely Obi-Wan's ghost should be Ewan McGregor.
The Ewok village scenes and music. The new scenes and music are stupid.

some of these ive read about prior to this and even now i had no idea about the death star explosions and i literally only found out yesterday about the ewok music, so basically ive been unknowingly watching butchered versions for years (i dont own any of them on blu ray etc its always been just catching them on tv)

And yeah changes such as Anakins ghost are not only ridiculous, it doesnt even make sense.

is there any way of seeing them unedited that you know of windy?

There was an old laser disc version of the original unedited trilogy that was transferred on to DVD a few years back. Never re-mastered of course so the quality isn't that great. But if you can find them on e-bay or anywhere else I would get them. Far superior.

Well worth it. The originals were that good because of the live action models used. Nice to see that Abrams is focusing on that rather than CGI. There are rumours of course that Disney are releasing the originals unedited. Despite what George Lucas tries to claim [that the unedited originals no longer exist] they are sitting around somewhere.
