Pedro has always stated that he does not want a top job. Still, Carver needs to **** off and **** off now!

Leave the tea lady in charge - she always delivers a cup or two!

By all accounts it seems Carver did indeed hurl abuse at a young fan by the dugout yesterday. A few different peole have now referenced it.
If true then this reckless buffoon surely needs assisting towards the exit door.

    This!

He makes a big point of saying he can take flak from the fans. But if this is his version of being able to take it, then he's even thicker than I had suspected.

Apparently he's also lost the cone room as they've become confused with their positioning during training and match warm ups.

Don't worry, Carr is scouting for cheaper cones in France right now.

Got to love that open letter, just a shame the media haven't picked up on it so there's a chance he might see it.

Been a mighty long time since I've posted on here, been deleting old e-mails and thought I'd pop in.

    The site has evolved loads!

    seriously though

    who would we have nee

Im sure he would, if we werent an absolute shambles, and id actually really like to see what he could do..even if it was short term. As Peacocks said though, he seemed to rule himself out.

But what i want to know is, who was actually a viable option considering we are a total catastrophe and just were a couple of injuries away from imploding (as usual, and which is exacty what happened) ...with an almost guarantee that you would just end up getting six months of stick from the fans?

I would imagine Carver assured ashley that he was capable of doing the job, and for that he could do with slapping, but i dont think its inconceivable that at that particular moment he was not only the only one who would go anywhere near us, but the only person who could at least attempt the task with a modicum of passion.

So much of the stick being aimed at Nufc is imo misdirected at carver. Its like having an issue with how don king treats his boxers but then punching one of the boxers whose heads he turned into mush.

understand where you are coming from mate.
I think him having a pop at fans and offering them out stoked the fires a bit though, it did for me at least.

yeah thats true. It is just another symptom of the main issue though, that he shouldnt be there in the first place and shouldnt be under this undue pressure. The whole issue is of ashleys doing, and i see a situation of ashley actually spending some decent money and getting someone competent in, then people will ease off ashley while we start to progress, forgetting we just gave one of our own stick for having to work within the confines of the problem we were complaining about in the first place.

He has also recently stated that he would "walk away" if he didn't think he was up to the job. So this leaves me wondering just how bad things need to get before he wakes up and realises that in actual fact he ISN'T up to the job. Christ on a ****ing bike, surely we don't have to be relegated for him to realise this...or is he just gonna point to the fact that we've had a horrendous amount of injuries to contend with this season coupled with not bringing any players in during January ?

Part and parcel of the job I'm afraid, as long as the comments directed towards him are constructive and relating to football club/footballing matters. Calling his mother a slag for example is obviously not acceptable and he should not expect to have to put up with stuff like that...I'm not saying someone has said that, I'm just using that as an example of non-football related abuse.

At least there are people in the ground to throw comments his way. Clearly the discontent, boycotts and what have you are starting to have an affect. Stewards removing protesting cards (albeit from kids like), Charnley's fans forum letter and now this. I'm sure they came out with some bollocks previously about recognising that they had made mistakes....and yet it still happens. It's been spelled out on numerous occasions what they need to do to take this club forward.

A lot of people aren't boycotting to get rid of Ashley, merely for things to change. I for one cannot see one happening without the other. It's clear who is pulling the strings, it seems that nobody is allowed to say anything that hasn't been veto'd by the fat one and no one is allowed to voice their opinion or speak out about anything relating to club matters...unless it's had some sort of spin put on it.

Does anyone know why Ashley has "boycotted" the last two home games ? Coincidence ?

It's all very straightforward, which is probably why we're all so utterly disillusioned by it all, in that the club has not spent, employed, or managed itself to a level necessary to compete at this level. If you want to run a competent European model, it's hugely important that you bring in a sporting director or director of football. Ashley has simply let Penfold and Carr assume those responsibilities, whilst still expecting them to be MD/FD and Chief Scout respectively. Almost every other club, including many in the Championship, employ a number of back office staff to take care of the many specialisms required, but Ashley wanted it on a budget either through greed or this once-mooted idea that he likes his teeny-tiny circles of trust and no-one else involved. For me, the problems start there. If Charnley has to stay, bring in a DoF, preferably not Joe Kinnear. I mean even Sheffield Wednesday have brought in sporting directors. It's probably the right model, but we are a relatively massive club with a lot going on. It has to start up at that level to give the "Head Coach" a fighting chance.

Carver's probably a competent enough coach by the definition of the word - training players individually, getting them fit, working on weaknesses, and so on. But the next level, a football manager, needs to then be able to coach people mentally, to prepare a TEAM, not an individual, for whatever challenges come next. I'm sure Carver thought he could do it, but you only have to listen to Pardew to see there's a chasm of difference between the two. And that's only Pardew. It's depressing when you take Carver soundbytes against managers of real calibre.

I'd love to see McLaren in, but the whole thing needs a revamp from the top and without that, nothing will change.
