Interesting read. Trying to decide how much of it is bullshit. One thing is for sure, they wont be able to hide much longer. The inference there seems to be we'll soon know plans for next season, so that combined with Massimo claiming next season will be beautiful for the fans, seems to set a sort of deadline. Personally I'm grudgingly prepared to give them another season, mainly because there is no alternative. Doesnt fill me with confidence

    Hey'up Eire,

I'm not a big fan of umbers, but if he's going to stick his neck out then it'll come back on him if nothing occurs; I also think we should be prepared to recognise that not all best laid plans workout.

I'm giving Cellino another year because he said promotion in 2 seasons.

I think there's a chance some of the kids may go, mainly because they'll want to go and Redders may not be the coach. The prem, money and a chance of further development will be too attractive.

Italian press are saying Leeds are trying for Viviani again.

Not so sure LL, Prem clubs will be qeueing up yet for our young lads, maybe with exception of Cook, thanks in part to award he won this week. While we rate them highly, partly because the poor standards we now have and were becoming increasingly desperate to believe they are potential world beaters, Prem clubs likely wont want to offer shed loads of money at unproven young lads who have completed a season with a poor championship outfit. At least thats what Im hoping

Another big thing regarding the academy kids is the price expectations in the UK. The prem clubs can bring in a kid from France, Spain, Brasil, Italy etc for a pittance, compared to around £4m average for an untried, untested kid who may or may not make it, and on top of that there's 20% VAT which isn't the case for foreign kids. The economics of football is crazy over here. You will also not I never mentioned German and Dutch kids, because they have a system at home which encourages the big clubs to develop talent. I'm afraid our International future depends upon how we develop and coach our kids, as well as all the stuff the FA are talking about, but at the base of everything is this huge financial burden placed upon smaller clubs academies

Whether we agree with it or not, our players are too expensive which is why many teams are bringing in overseas players. We can complain about overseas players till cows come home, untill the FA / FL find an affordable transfer system it's always going to be the case, hence Cellino doing it. While we shout about wanting good British players, Cellino is actually doing good business finance wise, imagine our debt if he bought all British players.

Youth is, in some cases the way forward, but many don't make it at senior level, and some go out on loan through a lack of patience or being way down the pecking order. I know many say give youth a chance, and I'm all for it if they're way above good enough, but it'll probably mean waiting a couple of seasons before they mature enough to learn more skills and to use their new found abilities properly; that's the problem with youth.

When you think about it, and with us being in an embargo, Cellino is limited to what he can spend.

But will embargo now be lifted? If were supposedly 24m in debt, roughly same as previous season, does that mean weve broken even last year or are we a further 24m in debt. I havent bothered checking the accounts but curious

There's value in the British market, it's just that nobody wants to take the risk of players lower down the league ladder. Just for instance - Andre Gray left Luton for around £500,000; we spent £2m on Antenucci and Doukara and Gray's scored as many goals as both of them together this season for Brentford in the same division as us. I agree that a lot of British players do go for a premium price, but there is good value out there. Our scouting system has been poor for so long I'm not surprised we rarely sign gems for small fees.

Youth is a good plan: it will take longer, and we will have to be patient, but I think it'd be worth it in the long run. Just need a quality coach (which we'll never get) to guide them, and a few top signings (again, which we're unlikely to get) to supplement them.

So it looks like if weve operated at no worse than a 6 m loss for the last set of figures, our embargo would be lifted or am I reading that wrong. Any idea what operating loss our last set of accounts show as that seems to be the important figure. Of course, its all irrelevant if Cellino isnt going to spend anyway

I think it will relate to the set of accounts ending 30 june 2015. I would imagine the club would have to let the FL have a reasonably accurate estimate on whether we're likely to fall foul again or not. The current embargo is based on the June 14 figures which were released officially last week. I might be wrong tho.

Good on Hay for asking the questions directly at him. Because for the most part Umbers was answering like every other politician I've heard speak....in which I mean, not actually answering the question.

You haven't got a cat in hell's chance of meeting that criteria.
You have all the redundancy payments, solicitors costs, Macron, Cameron Stewart, Sacked managers and assistant managers compensation, Interest on the £38M loans, ground and training ground rent, etc etc
