It's why even tho he did well last night. I still don't want Gazzaniga as first choice(while Forster is out). He would take a hour just to take a goal kick as he would have to get his pose just right.
To be fair, that full back looked a little Usain Bolt meets a heavy weight boxer .. he could seriously move through the gears
I have been as critical as anyone on Pelle's hold up play, because I see that there is room for massive improvement there .... however, Big Ron must take some criticism here as surely he can see that all Pelle needs is to be taught a little adjustment in his game. If he kept moving toward the ball a little longer and concentrated on getting that first touch with his body between the ball and defender, he'll be fine. He just seems to stand rooted and think his bulk will be enough (probably is in Dutch League, but not here) and then try the flick. His last home game he was much better at holding it up.
Good to see some of our other academy players (past and present) there also watching the match - Prowsey Chambers Turnbull Stephens and Isgrove were some I picked out. Was funny seeing them being told off by stewards to sit down outside their executive box
Good to see Chambers back at SMS but there again he has a lot of time spare as he no longer plays football
McQueen was the main attacking threat first half in both matches. He was carrying an injury in the game after a fitness test which hampered his speed which is well known. He did get past the full back once causing the latter to get a yellow card. Matt Le Tissier rates him (he meets and knows the players well). He can play anywhere across the front and in the hole. He wins more balls in the air from goal kicks than anyone else in the team. He got a great ovation when taken off so a few others rated him too. Just saying ....
Just irrupting that Chelsea's U18s are getting time on BBC News, talkSport etc etc whereas our U21's cup victory got absolutely nothing in the national media. Suppose we shouldn't be surprised
