Does anyone know how the sale of season tickets is doing? Apparently pompey have sold 8000. Also, how many did we sell last year..was it about 15,000?
Just did mine....ouch that hurt...let's hope its's worth it! Last season was one of the most enjoyable I've had (ST since '78). 7
So our ST sales are still in single figures; not as good as we might have hoped! Despite the price hike, I suspect we'll sell at least as many as last year, but also sell more individual match tickets. I feel that we will average about 25-26,000 this year with sell-outs for select games.
Times are hard and money is tight and given the changes in concessions we could see no improvement in actual sales of season tikets; they may even fall slightly. Last season we were getting about 22,000 for most games and we will probably see many fans pick and choose which games to watch. If you have a fixed income and a limited amount of disposable income then if ticket prices increase you can only afford to go to a reduced number of matches. Add to that the way energy and food prices are rising and the government's targetting of the poor to pay for the bankers' mess a lot of people will just simply not be able to afford to go to games. I would like to be optimistic and say that we will get 25,000 gates regularly and will be pleased if we do but I wouldn't be surprised to see our gates actually fall.
I am returning my season ticket in protest at the price of Bovril, and will be inviting the Echo along to photograph me looking pee'd off in the car park. That said, £380 to renew in the Chapel is pretty good value imo.
Agree with Fran - I cannot afford season tickets for both me and the wife this season - we are both unhappy but we have too many financial pressures these days to justify renewing... we will be more selective about the games we go to. I am sure we are not the only ones in this position and I do think that season ticket sales will suffer because of the economic climate, not just because of the ticket price-hike.
I haven't seen any ST sales figures but at a guess the renew-ables are slightly down on last years figures. Anyone know how we can get up to date figures?
Don't think they even officially announced last years numbers, did they? More people may buy individual tickets this season which of course pays better for the club, but does not have the advantage of money up front. It's only work that's stopping me or I would have bought a season ticket, so perhaps there will be quite a few new ST holders for the Championship.
I always find that if you're pleasant and assertive over the phone, you can get passed onto someone who may be able to offer you a rough estimate of the latest sales figures.
I could probably justify a season ticket, but the problem is that I go to matches with either my son, my brother and his son,or a mate. Or any combination of them. None of them can go regularly enough to justify a season ticket. If I had a season ticket them it would be impossible to guarantee all sitting together. Anyone else have this problem?
Well me and my dad are getting our first season tickets (we have been very regular for past 5-6 years, attending most games other than the odd match here and there due to lack of money) but despte the increase of funds there was no way we could not fork out, plus the advantage of easily getting tickets for big cup games. Looking foward to getting them on saturday.
Just got mine. As I'm no longer a young adult nor a student, I've had to fork out £380 for my first ever adult ST. Hello world.
Got mine yesterday. Queued up for an hour from 11 o'clock and when I left at midday, the queue was even longer. So plenty have been sold. Anyway, average gate is a much better barometer of support than season ticket sales. Reckon we should average around 25000. Games like Pompey, Leeds and West Ham should be sell-outs.
[QUOTEbbbb=fran-MLs little camera;777975]I wonder if those numpties who handed back their STs are regretting it already?
