What will Enrique do?

  1. Sign a new contract

  2. Run down his contract

  3. Move clubs now

Besides the English I can't buy this as a reason. I hope (and have a lingering idea) that he'll stay, but he stayed with us in the Championship because he'd had a fairly indifferent first Premier League season, the only top club that might have come in for him would have been Big Sam at Blackburn. Situation is completely different now, he's a proven Premier League player and if he wants to go, there will be options for him to do so.

    Fingers crossed...

I hope he'll stay, and I can't see him leaving for another English club, but if the price is right and Barca come in for him I can't see MA refusing to let him go.

i think Enrique means exactly what he says.

He loves it here. He would like to play in the Champions League and improve his chances of getting in the Spain squad. The second trumps the first. If a CL club comes calling, he will answer.

I think he is staying silent to avoid the Carroll situation: pledging undying support until it's time to get in the helicopter.

On balance, I'll bet he signs a new contract, but that really is just a bet that Barca and Arsenal aren't interested. If he does sign a new contract, he'll serve us loyally until some much better team comes calling. I'm ok with that

  6. I'd like it if he runned down his contract and joined Barcelona, but i'd love him to sign a new contract, but i can't see it happening.

such a good point. makes zero sense on his part to stay during relegation and want out when we're putting together a solid team.
