It's an old topic but we have heard time and again - including from our manager - about the problem scoring goals and the burden on our strikers. I just learned that Lazio are the only team in any of Europe's top divisions to have 6 players who have scored more than 7 goals this season. No other team in the top divisions has more than 4 players who have done this. We have 1. Lazio's top scorer Klose only has 3 more (10) than 5 of his colleagues. They've just won 8 games on the trot whilst being really financially poor. So in a nutshell, are we putting far too much pressure on our strikers to get the goals and should we instead be sharing them around? Is it great if a fit Jelavic has got 15 when the next highest scorers have 4 each? And is this entirely down to tactics - could Jake, Tom, Elmo or Brady have got 7 or more with better tactics? I think I've answered my own questions.....
Barely watched the team much for a while to be honest, but games are won and lost in midfield, and the balance of ours is all over the shop and pretty much has been since last deaedline days purchases.
I think it's a disgrace that Huddlestone has hardly scored if not at all with his technique and power this season, surely the coaches must have been working with him in training on this or encouraging him to shoot when he has the chance, another over-paid star who hasn't done his job this season, but maybe enjoyed his suspensions at convenient times for himself (all of christmas etc.)
