I analyse Pardew's chances and competition below onehandonthecup.wordpress.com/alan-pardew:-manager-of-the-season?
The reasoning behind this is that the managers of big clubs have loads of cash so any fool could do it so let's give it to a manager of a plucky mid table club punching above its weight. Not Pulis or Martinez this year, let's give it Pardew.
Totally get where your coming from, I just feel this man has not been given the credit he deserves this season, in all honesty I do think Koeman's the favourite!
Pardew has done well, but he has some good players who I think Warnock could have turned round given more time. I don't buy the idea that Pardew, who was treading water at Newcastle, has sprinkled some fairy dust and suddenly worked some magic.
Didn't they sell a key player last January? I'm not well versed on the transfer dealings at Newcastle but I believe Pardew was always under pressure to work on a limited to non existent budget but still made some astute signings and kept Newcastle relatively competitive. The fans didn't seem to like him as he was considered part of the Cockney Mafia. Maybe they'll give Carver more slack although if he's the manager next season they'd be a good bet for relegation. Pardew is a good manager in my opinion.
I don't dispute he's a decent manager. I don't think anyone managing Newcastle stands much of a chance. I don't think he's MOTY material though. I think he tends to start well, but then upset people and ultimately move on. How much credit do you give him at Palace when Pulis did the same thing last season with many of the same players? Palace seems to be a club which is doing relatively well because of good players, despite the constant change in management.
Yeah i'd go with Koeman too. Pardew has a decent shout but i'd go for Koeman purely because he's done well for the whole season whereas Pardew has only had a decent half season.
If Burnley stay up, then it 100% has to go to Dyche, no questions, just look at their squad and what they spent in the Summer. If they don't then I reckon Koeman will get if we finish in the top 6 which will be a fantastic achievement. Koeman has also put to bed the bullshit excuse of 'transition'.
Clearly shouldn't win it but if you're talking about half seasons then ridiculously Brod has a shout too considering the impressive mid-season run that saw us sat at the top of the form chart for a couple of months. We should have been dead and buried before Christmas this season! In reality, it's got to be Koeman
hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah
Koeman for me. Most expected Southampton to be fighting relegating after their squad was raped. He has spent half of what they brought in and until recently, had them competing for a CL place. A top 7 finish for Southampton would be miraculous.
After last Summer to improve on our league position would be an incredible season and we look nailed on for that. I thought we were well organised last year but have gone to a whole new level under Koeman, I mean 15 clean sheets!! For a club like Saints... also haven't conceded more than one goal away from home since opening day and having won every game we've scored first in except 1 which was home to the Champions-to-be. If we could finish above one (or both) of Pool n Spurs then would be the icing on the cake. Despite all of the above though, as I said earlier in the thread, if Burnley stay up then Dyche simply has to win it.
I thought about 10 minutes after posting this that I might stitch myself up, later that day we go on to take the lead at Stoke and lose 2-1
