So you're equating a life time ban from a football ground to a life sentence in prison!?!?!?

If these people regret their actions then they should come forward (before they are found on CCTV) and admit publically what they did was wrong and apologise to the football community, their club and the Chelsea players.

    You obviously didn't see Oscar!!!!
And I presume you're referring to when he bravely stuck his sweaty armpit in the face of the woman who had to cover her face! What a gentleman!!

I saw that on the TV. He was having a laugh with the crowd and they were giving it back ...all good stuff!

A hostile atmosphere has a negative net effect on the opposition. Strong characters like Terry and Ivanovice thrive. Weaker ones like Oscar, Mata etc. struggle. On average a defender will be a stronger character than a flair player which is a reason these games at LR tend to have few goals IMO.

I think everyone should apologise to everyone else about everything once a week just in case.

Both correct! We won with Oscar - especially with his first penalty and Ivanovich did indeed lean into the crowd quite deliberately to show he was not bothered.
Watford makes a good point about the stronger characters. My son made that point too and we agreed that maybe we should have targeted weaker characters like Oscar for the abuse. It did unsettle him whilst it was water off a ducks back for Terry.

That's the way it's heading. Everyone's so dramatic and over the top in football.

I suppose we should introduce lifetime bans for 2 footed tackle's as well. Drogba's 2 footed tackle on Adel in 2011 lifetime ban and an apology to the 'football community' (whatever that is).

All football teams should permenantly wear black armbands and do a minutes applause continually for the full 90 minutes as we can always find an anniversary of some ex-player or someone who once liked a football team to associate with some minute of the game.

All this faux outrage and contrived mourning is so insincere.

If we live in a society that sets limits on murder's then maybe we should also look at whether we should set limits on people throwing lighters and plastic bottles. Lifetime ban is too much so the logical thing is to decide how long the ban is and like a criminal court would take account of the circumstances.

I'd say 6 month ban and any future issues and your treatment is harsher

Of course you need to distinguish between what was thrown. If someone threw a hand grenade, a rock a seat, a lighter or a programme then you assess that differently in each case.

Same as if in anger someone hit someone over the head with a hammer, a glass bottle or a cushion. The implement is entirely relevant to the punishment.

Nicely argued. I particularly like the bit about hand grenades and hope never to have to decide how bad that was!

I'm sure this is exactly what you were saying when it was Chelsea and/or their fans on the end of some bad publicity. ;)

The point is, if you brush incidents like this under the carpet, it then has the potential to escalate in the future. Nip it in the bud.

Your club has responded the right way at least.

Think the incident has been/is continuing to be dealt with correctly by the club, whilst I don't want this brushed under the carpet I also don't think QPR should be demonised, AGAIN!!!!! Sure someone mentioned that Palace had a similar incident.

Just about had enough of amazing double standards such as when QPR players questioned, at a distance a decision at Man City and get lynched for it, yet only a week or 2 before Hart had his forehead pressed against the refs, and not a mention. Leicester (especially at that time looked like they were going down so it makes it look, to me a crazy decision) spend, was it 9 million on what appears to be a bang average forward and not a mention of them flinging money about actually seemed like the pundits were hailing a great signing, remember Ulloa was another 8 mill I think. If we had done that, evil money bags QPR spending all this money, they shouldn’t be doing this ect, etc.. FINE THEM SEND THEM TO THE CONFERENCE, take a look Leicester amongst others will fall foul of the stupid FFP rules designed to keep the big clubs happy!!

Again I will re-iterate I don’t condone the actions and I hope bans for the individuals will be handed out, but let’s have a little perspective and consistency.

I don't think anyone is suggesting brushing it under the carpet.

Would be interesting to hear the thoughts of certain Chelsea fans if, say, a court found someone not guilty due to lack of evidence but the club chose to implement a ban.

I think a lot of the difference of opinion here is down to the psychology of why anyone would throw things. This is the part that mystifies me.

The goal went in, I swore a lot. Over and over again.

Can someone who thinks me and others are being over sensitive please explain what makes a man pick up something and throw it and someone else in the same situation? What the are trying to achieve? What their thought processes are on what constitutes a safe missile at that precise moment?

If anyone can do that without it seeming like a neanderthal act of aggression then I will reconsider my stance.
